Default Better representation of folder nesting in the mixer view

One of the awesome things about Reaper IMO is the way you can create submixes really easily with folder tracks...

I think the way folder tracks are represented in the TCP is awesome, because it really intuitively shows how everything routes... you can see how everything routes at a glance.

But the mixer view is way less intuitive... you can't actually tell at a glance how everything routes, tracks pretty indistinguishable from each other, and those little folder icons that do indicate nesting are pretty subtle and not very visible at a glance...

I don't think it would take much to make the situation a *lot* better... some kind of system of indenting tracks vertically to show nesting (similar to how tracks are indented horizontally in the TCP) would be pretty cool...

... that's (to some extent) up to the theme designer. There's been much debate on alternative designs in the past.

I just color track folders and pretty much everything else to according to what the tracks are, that way you can instantly recognize different categories of tracks once you get used to the color scheme.

My template(s) looks like clown car, but it's functional

I use colors as well to distinguish. A dark color for the parent folder and a lighter shade of the same color for the child tracks.

There are some user-created themes that utilize a bit of WALTER magic (cheers White Tie) to create folder indents for the MCP. I for one would like to see an option to automatically indent children tracks by a certain amount, regardless of the theme used.

Here's my attempt at theming, which has the indent for MCP:

Intentional necrobump.

It still irks me that we can't do this without having to resort to cheating our images with the yellow border. The code is already there; mixer tracks are happily indented to make room for the scroll bar once you have too many.

So, to that end, two very simple requests.

1. Allow themes to specify MCP indenting just like on the TCP. Throw a toggle into Preferences|Appearance|Track Control Panel if you want, since not everyone wants it.

2. Just to keep my OCD at bay, could we please allow the MCP Master to indent along with the tracks? I like having all my tracks the same height, but as soon as the scrollbar shows up my poor Master gets kicked to the curb.

This second suggestion would also be a great time to include another request that keeps coming up: Pinning the Master track (and/or multiple tracks) to the top of the arrange view even when you scroll down: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=1404739. I would love this on the MCP as well, at which point you could just have the scrollbar extend all the way under the Master and avoid any weird-looking gap.

+1! I'd love to see 3 (optional) zones in both the arrange (top middle bottom) and mixer (left middle right) where tracks could be placed. Zoom independent...
