Default Instrument Definition files not working

Hi,
I try to load an Instrument Definition file (in Cakewalk format, not reabank). It is ignored, nothing happens.

Steps to reproduce :
- open ReaControlMIDI
- enable Bank/program Select
- click Load file
- select a *.ins file (e.g. MODX definition from https://stash.reaper.fm/v/38249/MODX_ROM_Perf.reabank, which is really a .ins inside, not a reabank despite its name).
-> <not patch file loaded> remains displaied, Bank & Program boxes are still empty.

I get the same result with other *.ins files. It works ok with true *.reabank files.

I'm using locale en_US.utf8. Nothing is displayed in terminal.
Reaper v6.13 rev 2252ae (Jul 22 2020) on Debian Linux (stable).

It appears that real Sonar instrument definitions work. This page has a few genuine Cakewalk Sonar formatted ones, and they appear to work here. I nuked Windows the other day, and my Sonar install went with it, so I don't have any of my own to try any longer.

The instrument definition for Motif from your link works.
But even the original MODX.ins (not the "fake" reabnak) does not work. The tx81z.ins I had for cwpa 25 years ago doesn't work.
It looks like some files work and some others don't, as if some features trigger a bug. I'll have to investigate more about that.

I'd compare the guts of one that works with one that doesn't. Might see something real obvious with a couple of test editors side by side.

I compared the .ins for MODX and Motif, and found that the offending line is BankSelMethod=1
If I comment this line in .ins that don't load correctly, it make them work.

That's cool! Now that I think about it, I had an instrument definition for an old Roland SC880 that I used to have and it had additional GS banks along with the traditional GM banks, and on those banks there were no patches until you got up into higher numbered patches. If your Motif has additional banks, make sure they switch correctly with the modified instrument file when you try to select them.
