Just try it, it don't cost anything...

Yes, it can stay open, it works just like any VST

A problem:
On Win XP 32-bit with Reaper 3.74 this plugin works fine with the setting
Options - Preferences - Plug-ins - Automatic bridging (when required).

However, if I switch this setting to "in dedicated process per plug-in" or "in separate plug-in process" (which I have to use these days, as I'm getting so much crashes otherwise),
I get Reaper_host32.exe crash, and get the horizontal slide-bar on Notepad's user interface, and can not see the text I have written to the Notepad.

As a workaround (as I have used these notepads extensively on my tracks for storing chords-info etc) I have to set this switch temporarily to "Automatic bridging (when required)", then resque the text from this Notepad for example to an empty item on the track (which I don't like), then set the switch back to "dedicated process per pluging."

I can not tell what is the version of this plugin, as it does not show, but I just re-downloaded the pluging from the link in the first email in this thread, and it does the same.

Is there any hope for me, not forcing me to transfer all my notes to those empty items (sigh)?

A silly question - is this plug in officially dead, and if so, has it been superseded by another one ?

I would love to get this functionality, but on my Reaper 4.26/x64 it consistently crashes...

It would be great having a VanBasco's Karaoke Player style of lyrics display inside Reaper. Then you can just load a .kar or .mid with lyrics inside Reaper, and having same fullscreen lyrics display, e.g. via F11 or another hotkey. What is nice in VanBasco's Karaoke Player is you can select your own .jpg image as a background, take whatever you like, and start singing. Great for having fun with your friends, directly inside Reaper, where you can record all the singing, as new takes, later a little mixing maybe.

Any other js or vst plugins which can display lyrics very big, in full screen from .kar files?

unfortunately this excellent plugin no longer appears to work. The idea was the plug simply opened a text box for you to type track notes. It would also time stamp if you opened while playing or paused (vs stopped).

Like you, all I see is a fader and no way to enter any text. Bummer. The other plug mentioned - VSTNote appears to be gone too. I could really use something like this.

I think it was replaced by the native Item Notes (found under item Properties in the media item rightclick menu)

it does the same thing basically, no timestamping though, but you can now stretch the text across say an empty item so it's readable without having the notes window open at all. So you could have a dummy track with empty items matched to events in large writing, works really good. You can also load images.

FWIW, the Schwa Track Notepad works on my system, I use it everyday to remember amp settings & remind myself of things I'd probably forget...

Found it! Thanks for the tip - this is exactly what I need. I can now store notes as to amp settings, mic placement, outboard, etc in case I want to re-record that track later. Also useful for recalling an OTB mixdown without printing stems.

Cheers!

it doesn't work in x64... crashed.

Try MNotepad, from Meldaproductions, which is free in the free bundle.

Any other notepad plugins out there?

I was looking for a plugin where I can put notes to takes as a take fx. We have item's notes but How to do take's notes?

got it to work in 64 bit reaps via DDMF Bridgewize... a new thing...

>>Updated in the first post: if the transport is playing or paused, the notepad now inserts the play position time in front of each line of text. If the transport is in any other state, no timestamp is inserted. <<

hummm don't work in the bridged dll... too bad... cuz that is the great feature

maybe because that's something Schwa did, but it is not included in REAPER by default. So they don't have to support it, unless Schwa wants to.

Bump.

I, too, would love a decent notepad for my projects, and was rather depressed to find that this one won't work on x64. (Just shows an empty window that says Track Notepad)

Tried this one already?

I prefer this to melda's because on that one the spacebar triggers playback. (though that can be avoided when "Send all keyboard input to plugin" is activated

I'm using the CodeFN42 VSTnotepad plugin in Reaper x64 on Win7. I got it a couple of months ago and find myself using it on every project now.

too bad... won't work as bridged either... totally crashes 64 bit reaper

oh well

PS: to make it work in 64bit reaper you 'can' get it bridged by the recent DDMF Bridgewize plugin

funny that it will create a bridged version but reaper's own host for 32 bit crashes and burns

Oh posted before in my old post... so yeah works in 64 via DDMF bridgewize but does not show the
time line data... oh well some more

Just because I don't think it was ever mentioned in this thread:

Yeah, the SWS notes are perfect. You can have track notes, item notes, project notes, etc.

Is it possible to change SWS notes font size? It's too small for my monitor resolution.

I also need to find a way to increase the font size of the notes (while in edit mode)...I think there was an SWS hack but I can't figure out how to activate it.
