"Afraid" because this is one of EZdrummer's best features and I don't have enough authorizations to install it on a Windows box. The fifth quarter will be here soon but not fast enough for the project I'm working on right now.

OK, here's a map I made for Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums. This is using his "Optimal Layout."

If I'm following you, you can download the free EZ Player which has the same midi files as EZ Drummer...you won't need authorizations for that.

If I'm following you, it's been a huge one here so I could be brain damaged...

Charles,

I received my copy of BFD 2 last friday, you're gonna love it. A few people have had minor installation and licensing issues, the solutions can be found in the BFD forum if you run into problems. It sounds great and I really like the redesign. Enjoy.

Peace...

Another thing:

Somebody has mentioned in this thread that someone has posted a GM drums map for the note namer plugin, but I cannot find it.

Anyone has a link?

nofish

I couldn’t find one when I did a quick forum search, so I Googled for a GM Drum Map and found this site which gives a GM drum map at the bottom of the page.
http://www.tweakheadz.com/gm_sound_map.htm

I copied and pasted it into a text file (attached), which can be read by schwa’s midi note namer.

I can’t guarantee it’s correct because I don’t use general midi. If it’s not correct you can probably find other sites on the internet that give GM drum maps, which you could copy and paste into a txt file

There's a GM drum map here (don't know if it's identical to the one posted just above):

Stratman, your map is working.
Wouldn't have thought myself to just copy and paste. Smart idea, thanks.

Schwa, I think the link you have posted has a GM instrument map but not a GM drum map, which I don't really see any use for in combination with your plugin, like it's said in that thread.
If you have any idea?

But nevermind, I got what I was looking for, so thanks again.

nofish, actually it is there on schwa's link.

I missed it myself at first. See post number 4 (see link below). Click on the link given in the post and scroll down to the bottom of the page

Yes you're right, there is.
But like I said, if I found it I would have been too stupid to just copy and paste it in a text file anyway...

Hi, did the notenamer plugin thing and put it in VST and Reaper FX folder, NO GO< maybe it is called something else. If you know a proper way or what it is really called, probably something different, from my experience, please enlighten!

Billy, I had to reload EZdrummer, VR and DFH, Reaper is maddening, something goes on behind the scenes and I have to do this kind of stuff everytime I start working again recording in Reaper, thanks for all the help, psingman

Is there an escape sequence for adding comments to MIDI_note_names.txt? I tried "//" and ";" at the start of a line but they got interpreted as 0 and so the comment text became the name of note 0. Just thought it would be nice to insert a few lines at the top of the file to say what it's for.

Thanks for making this great plug-in.

Thanks for making this schwa. I never had much of an application to use it in, until now. I'm working on controlling a light show using MIDI input into a DMX operator. Being able to name each note as what control message it sends to the DMX unit is way easier than trying to remember them by number.

I have a small question about either Reaper or the Note Namer Plug-in.

Is it possible somehow to display the note names in reversed order?
Like from top to down:
0
1
2
...

This would make more sense for the maps I'm using.
Right now it's:
127
126
125
...

I didn't find a BFD2 map posted, so here are a couple.

For those of us who are Superior users, I have made maps for the Cocktail and Percussion VSTs, too. (The main kit can be found earlier in this thread)

Enjoy!

Updates won't affect this, nothing to worry about. Always run the new version "on top" of the old one, no need to uninstall or anything...

Here's the EZDrummer Rock Kit mappings if anyone wants to manually type them into a text file.

I tried to convert from Cubase into text but couldn't.

A completely noob's question (maybe you can tell by the question).

Is it possible to name the drums from Guitar Pro drums track? This is what I have in mid: write my drum track in Guitar Pro, export it as midi than play it in Reaper using soundfonts or some other VSTi, then open the midi editor to change things around. Would I have to name the drums in Guitar Pro, or in the VSTi or does it matter?
Thanks. Great plugin, very useful!!

Default Template for DFH

I would like to express my utmost gratitude to the rest of you who have made these note naming tasks possible especially to schwa (great great plugin) and Billy Buck (I'm using EZDrummer too!). Been searching high & dry throughout the net for this & my search ends here. Pheww!! How these small-sized files can make lots of difference in my life!

Billy, I watched your Youtube video when I was doing my own research on the best drumming VSTi. Honestly you are one of the reasons why I choose EZD and the Reaper. Your templates as attached earlier in this thread solved my 3-month old problem, the only thing is I'd also like to have such templates for DFH & Latin Percussion. Could you please (and others too perhaps) guide me how to create them?

Thanking you guys in advance. This forum kicks ass!!!!

Hey thanks, I am glad my youtube REAPER video's are helping spread the word. I see my REAPER/EZdrummer tutorial has become one of the most popular REAPER video's on youtube. In just six months it is closing in on 6,000 views. Nearly a thousand views a month. Even my REAPER/UAD mix performance video has over 2,000 views. Nice to see there is genuine interest out there in viewing them. I plan on doing some addiitonal REAPER tutorials later in the Summer.

The great thing about the Note Namer plugin is the MIDI maps are just simple text files that can be created/edited and saved using the ubiquitus Windows notepad. Just open an existing EZD drum map text file and using the drum map layout accessible from each EZX dropdown menu, as a guide, make any necessary edits and re-save under the new EZX name.

Cheers,

Billy Buck

Hi, little and innocent question: I see the plugin seemingly not yet included in stock REAPER JS repository. Is there a reason for this (maybe now REAPER has it native)? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Yep, it's native now. You can load note name files in the files menue of the midi editor. The same file structure is used, so the files posted in this thread still work.
