Default Wave Candy access violation crash

Getting this error when using Image-Line Wave Candy VST in Reaper. I've tried buggy plug-in compatibility setting which seemed to help slightly but eventually I will get this crash.

I've been trying this vst in Ableton and haven't had any issues yet, so thinking perhaps it is something with Reaper. Any ideas?

I've had this problem in Ableton too!

Still don't know the cause.

Don't even know exactly what kind of compromise it entails, but i'd like to know because I also have some graphics related problems that might have something to do with this.

Unfortunately I never found a solution even after talking with image-line support for days. However, when I got a new computer this problem went away (along with others). Sorry that's probably not very helpful but maybe upgrading Windows or re-installing would help (of course that's not a great option and no guarantee really)

This happens to both my PCs with entirely different hardware, one amd one intel, so I would assume it's a software thing.

And, just to make it clear, neither wave candy nor ableton freeze or crash. There's no tangible drawback for me yet.
