Default OSC Item FX

Is there any method for sending and receiving OSC for Item fx?
Looking through the default.txt file and listening to the OSC messages that reaper sends this doesn't seem to be possible. Is anyone aware of a workaround or script that could allow this?

AFAIU, tracks are driven by OS threads that can't (are not supposed to) handle data streams other than audio and Midi.

Some plugin might do OSC in it's GUI thread.

What are you trying to accomplish ?

Hi Michael

I'm trying to build a control surface which uses MIDI or OSC as the input from endless rotaries, and from the plugin- send OSC* to a microcontroller as a method of displaying parameter value strings.

*Preferably OSC, but if I can figure get it to send a CC value from the plugin to a midi output I could make that work too.

This all works well on the channel FX, but with the item FX it only seems to accept a learned midi input (ReaLearn also not compatible on items) and I haven't yet figured out a way to make it output OSC or Midi.

Item FX is my preferred method for mastering, as I can keep the whole project on a couple of tracks.

Thanks
Robin.
