Default Midi Playback and record

Hi folks,

I am totally new to reaper, and I've configured my midi synthesizer (M-Audio) to work with Reaper and I can record OK with the synthesizer but then again when I add a new track to record something on top of the first track and play the previously recorded track in the background, I can only hear that first track, not what I am playing at the time on the second track.

Would anyone know what I am doing wrong ?

Thanks!

That's going to depend on how you set up and configured the new track, what the synthesizer (M-Audio) actually is and how you're listening to things...though an audio interface, using the PCs internal sound card etc.

But as a first guess, check that you have Record Monitoring switched on.

Welcome to the Reaper Forums!

As slipstick already suggested, you probably have to check the input monitoring settings for the track.

More info in chapter 3 in the User Guide: http://www.reaper.fm/userguide.php
