Default Basic Midi Routing Question

Hi all,

I have a Virus KC and a MicroX synth at my desk and I would like to record the MicroX sounds using the Virus KC as the controller (61 keys versus MicroX which has 25).
I can’t figure out how to do this in Reaper. I can do it in Pro Tools (generally I do midi input ‘all’ and midi output is microX) which then triggers the MicroX sound generator to audio input and I'm a little bit hazy as to why it is not working in Reaper.

I am positive that midi input and output has been enabled for both keyboards, they can send and receive midi data on their own. What am I missing?!

Any help would be appreciated!

Scott,

Hi Scott, in Preferences/Audio/MIDI Devices make sure you have the Virus KC enabled for input and the MicroX synth enabled for output.

Click on the I/O button of the midi track your Virus KC us set for and over on the upper right select the MicroX for MIDI Hardware Output.

those are two things you need to do besides arming the midi track.

It works, thanks! I feel like I navigated over those controls... maybe one wasn't active at the time.
