Default update issue w/o solution

I'm getting the "Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)\reaper.exe" business when trying the latest upgrade.

I have:
-shut off all running instances of reaper. in fact, nothing is running at all.
-detected and removed old install versions.

BTW, I'm not really a newb, but this seems like a problem with a simple solution that I havent' come across before!

Thanks

Get rid of your reaper files and do a clean reinstall?
Don't forget to note your plugin locations and of course back up your projects!

Try rebooting your computer before installing.

Sometimes you have to wonder whether Microsoft actually realises we are no longer in the 20th century.....

My fave spoof Windows alert screen reads: "Windows has crashed. Would you like some wine?"

Now if it REALLY did that.....
