Default How to Create a better mix

Hi guys new to the forum, I must say it is a cracking forum with lots of info.

I have recorded a simple version of "Molly's Chambers" by Kings of Leon

The drums are EZDrummer triggered by a midi track and a basic bass line also midi.

The rhythm guitar was DI'd from a Hughes & Kettner tubemeister 36 into M-Audio fast track pro, then overdubbed short lead guitar break.

How would you approach mixing this to create a better cohesion between instruments

Thanks in advance

the bass is kind of droney, put some spaces between those bass notes. bass is loud.

the kick drum isn't there at all.

pan everything except the kick and bass,

use round robin and load up a few different semi open hihat samples so it doesnt sound as fake.

um, what you need is a sense of movement and dynamic. everything cant be playing every spot on the musical staff the whole time. need starts and stops. moments of silence, mistakes, booze, weed.
