Default yep..another "no sound on playback" question

couldnt find the answer after reading through 3 or 4 other threads...so heres mine...i get no playback through ASIO

Windows 10
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

headphones and Scarlett working
i can record but all i hear is what im tracking through the Scarlett
if i choose DirectSound instead of ASIO from the audio device options, i have full playback

here are my device settings
thanx in advance

Hmm, I have the same interface. Your Reaper settings look good by eye.. same as what I have set up.

Did you install the latest ASIO driver from the Focusrite website? That might be the only thing I've done different than you. I presume you mean you can hear whatever you have inputing into the 2i2 (ex. a guitar), but you can't hear any audio produced within Reaper? (or play back of audio recorded into Reaper)

Is there some other application that is perhaps exclusively using the Focusrite card in Windows?

Also, obvious, but double check you see the meter in your master track bouncing around, and it's not muted at all.

I'm sure you tried this, and not to give obvious answers, but unplug the 2i2 for a bit and plug it back in. Although it hasn't done it in a long time, I used to occasionally have freezes on mine. It was usually accompanied with the lights on the front being weird (orange and flashing, iirc). That said, if you're getting sound on the 2i2 outside of Reaper (or Directsound, via the 2i2 and not some other device), this shouldn't be it. It does seem to point to driver, so hopefully that's the solution

Please don't take this as an insult (stranger things have happened!) but you do have your Master outputs set corectly don't you ?

Yes, of course you do, I'll go back to sleep then.
