Soloing a track cuts off midi notes

example:

I go to solo a drum group, and when i un-solo it, the long midi notes playing on other tracks are cut off. One must wait for the next midi note trigger to hear them again. In this case 16 bars!

Is this seriously how it works?

Please tell me what i am doing wrong again.
