Endless Horizons a collaboration
John Braner a fellow Reaper person let me loose on his tune "Sitting Duck" as I felt there was a song lurking in there. All recorded in Reaper. Music/instruments/recording and production by John except for my vocal bits which he skilfully wove into the mix.

This has a drive-through-the-country-with-the-windows-down feel. Cruising music. Seems I missed the original.
Tremolo used to great effect.

Thanks Sammy I got a Bob Seger vibe from it, just that wind in the hair feel. Most of John's work is pretty complex, I was lucky to find this one that I could work with, and to have his OK to go ahead. He was very generous with his time on incorporating my vocals.

I liked this!
The bridge was soo good, but the vocals was a bit low on that part.
There was also a ride bell click that I found disturbing.
Still, good work

Cheers Mikke. John was reluctant at first to have any vocal there at all so probably dropped it down a bit subconsciously. I can live with it. Your ears are sharper than mine re the cowbell 60 years playing bass does take the edge off a bit!

Great song. Great arrangement. I really like the electric during the verse - then the smooth keyboard into "kicking up some dust". That's a great transition. I think the first note drops out though. I love the vocals.
I like the rythmic synth part, but i might push that down in the mix - made it almost subliminal. You could also use a delay and pan semi-opposite of the original part BUT you probably don't need that much movement. I think moving the drums "back" with just a tad more verb. Great job!

Thanks Chris. This was a bit of a departure for John, I think, letting me loose with his work. The only changes I asked him to make were to remove a guitar track which was stopping me from forming my own melody. After that it's entirely his musical production with my song/vocals added. We agreed to disagree over delays that he incorporated into the vocal tracks and he very kindly removed them at my behest. I think we took it as far as we could whilst having very different musical views and pedigree and staying friends too! All in all a pretty good result for me.
