Plug in clogs up CPU only on Reaper

Greetings. Guitar Rig 6 (GR6) works fine on it's own, in other DAW's, and when rewired from another DAW (I rewired FLstudio into Reaper and GR6 is happy).

In Reaper, GR6 will gradually slow the whole CPU--like it takes almost 30 seconds to change a preset! There was one other thread about this, but no conclusive answer.

NI had me try a few changes and they improved the situation, but it's bogging down again. I'm also having my desktop checked this week. I thought I would try the forum once more to see if there are any suggestions.

Specs:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installed RAM 24.0 GB (23.9 GB usable)

Today I ran the GR6 update and NI has now included vst3 support. Loaded the vst3 version and, voila, everything seems solid.

Future reference if anyone else faces a similar issue.
