Default Reaper Key Snap keeps resetting to C major

I work with lots of short midi items to compose parts.

I use one editor per project.

When I set the key snap to say C Phrygian, it's good for that edit session. If I close the edit window and then reopen the midi item it has reset itself to C Major. So irritating.

Seems like I must have something obviously wrong, but I can't find a clue.

Any pointers?

Sorry I can't reproduce that and I also use one editor per project. I can say that I've encountered inconsistencies in the past with this feature but in a fresh project, the settings are retained after closing the editor (even when opening new items).

Thanks for testing! I'll keep poking about and hope for other suggestions.

I open the Midi Editor. I set key snap to Bb Major. I grab the edit cursor and drag. When I hit the first note it changes to C Major.

See this is a major PITA.

You will also lose this if you glue the item.

This feature has always been one that I wish was global setting for all MIDI in the project and not per-item. It doesn't really make sense as an item toggle. Editing 5 simultaneous parts means having to set that 5 times.

July 2022 and this bug is still killing me. I'm on Reaper 6.64. I change midi editor settings "open selected" / "open all", etc. etc. I select all items. I change the Key Snap.

No matter what I do the item resets to C Major.

Use case is "One midi editor per project" "Open all selected midi items".

Justin, please, please, please

Yes there are some very rare scenarios that you would like to use diffrent key snaps in some items but maybe 1% probability. This should be global locked or tickbox to lock it.

I found the bug.

I had imported a huge set of scales, ZDComplete.

I found that when selecting a scale in the 'sub menu' scales or when selecting scales > entry 25 this behavior of "resetting to C major" would occur.

I work around by editing the scale I want into the upper most slots, ie. < 25.
