Just ordered mine to beat the price-hike deadline. My first set of monitors. Been mixing on headphones with a Focusrite VRM box which I expect will now be relegated to last minute checking. Can't wait.
Thanks to all the contributions to the thread. (Just hope I don't end up with the buzzing issue.)
Got them two days ago. Really amazing. Concur with everyone else's cheers for these. And I did not get a pair with the buzzing, at least as far as I can tell. Yay!
Later this month Equator will be exhibiting at the New York AES. If you are around come by and see us in booth 3048. At this show we will be announcing the development of the Equator DI. Not your typical DI. The Equator DI is a Direct Series Interface that will give the D5 or D8 user access to the internal DSP. This access will allow for voicing adjustment from simple EQ to major voicing alterations. The interface will also allow for the storing and loading of alternate voicing curves including: an Auratone Curve, and NS Curve, and X Curve and other professionally developed curves. We expect the interface to be available the first quarter of 2014.
They already have room analysis software they bundle with the Q series monitors. Not much of a stretch to extend that down to the D series I'd think. If they price it in line with the cost of the monitors and it works with something like a UMIK-1 or UMM-6 that would be very interesting.
