Is it currently possible to get fx controls on the bottom a la Live using other themes? I poked around the lbx stripper thread, but didn't see anything on how to do that.

Thanks!

I thought that people who were interested in a Live theme may have knowledge of how to implement a Live feature.... Which was true. Thanks for your help

Now the mixer needs to accept only items there, midi and audio. Ready would be the session matrix.

Amazing work, donated! =D

If I have time, I might try to port the "Discord" Ableton color palette to this:

There's no need, tweaking color palette is something I'm keeping in my mind as clarity and eye friendliness is my ultimate goal. Feedback like this is something that I was counting on so thank You !

if you are a bit over, try zipping the theme with compression.
if you are still a bit over, try zipping the theme without compression, then zip again with compression.

NOTE: both of these methods will cause confusion for some users, since they are expecting to able to drop the theme in the colorTheme folder without doing anything before hand.

Things to check before trying compression:
- verify there are no unused image files in the image folder
- verify there are no unneeded files of any kind in the image folder.
If you built this theme from another theme, there are likely stray fiels you can cull, just be sure to make backup before you start deleting.
Accidents will happen...

PS: your theme looks nice!

OK thanks , will try it out.
for some reason I cannot access tint track background and set track label background in prefs.
They are greyed out. It's not related to the Rlive theme, but I must have changed a file in Reaper itself in the past for another theme or something. But I cannot figure this out.

Reason theme is little bit bigger because it contains 500+ changed icons. Compressing to 7zip seems to do the trick, just hope users can take it. Anyway I'll wait to beta 2 to post it to stash, found few minor bugs like I forgot to put folder toggle on sidebar mixer

I'm copying theme to portable install, strip it from project files and test it there. I'm also deleting files by extension so risk is minimal.

Themes have option to take over that setting, or else You would have to tweak it with every change of a theme.

Looks quite promising!

A couple little things I noticed during my (very brief) testing: the main window scrollbars have weird pixel-wide artefacts on both sides, making them look scraggly and uneven. Possibly this has something to do with the bars being narrower than the default ones? Also I don't see this in your screenshots, so maybe it's in some way dependent on resolution or platform? (I'm on Linux and on a relative low resolution, 1680x1050). Sorry, I'm too lazy to grab and upload a screenshot just now...

Also the indents of track numbers/labels seems a little wonky. Specifically the last track in a folder appears to be indented more than previous tracks. (Also the labels of folder tracks look to me to be indented a tad more than necessary, leaving an unnecessary amount of space between the label and the folder compact arrow...)

I wonder how much of Ableton's theme properties could be translated to REAPER properties?

Am thinking of making a public web app for automatically converting Ableton theme files .ask -> .ReaperTheme, because +17,000 of them exist at https://www.livethemes.co/
Because your theme looks like Ableton, the color palettes would produce a similar visual effect, but they would also work to style any theme.

Does anyone have experience with .ask files and know whether the properties would map to ReaperTheme properties in any semi-direct manner?

Fixed, and space between Id number and label has to stay to leave place for larger numbers as I have no way of knowing when they do.

Beta 2 will come when it does

A) Live doesn't use graphics that have to be manually updated
B) Reaper has limited amount of things that can be colored by code, things restricted to theme development/tweaker

Values of which are stored in ReaperTheme file type

Code:
[color theme]
col_main_bg2=1776411
col_main_text2=14013909
col_main_textshadow=65408
col_main_3dhl=1776411
col_main_3dsh=1776411
col_main_resize2=10009626
col_main_text=16777215
col_main_bg=-2144128205
col_main_editbk=1776411
...
You would have to manually map around 250 values with a quick look at it, with limited result. I don't think its worth it.

Yeah, my big question is how many of the Live theme properties check these two boxes:
  • Have a near-equivalent in ReaperTheme, or a combination of properties that together make a near-equivalent
  • Are large and very impactful properties

Like for example, changing half a dozen properties (main window bg color, arranger/timeline bg color, and MIDI piano roll color) would account for a massive difference in perceived theme.

So my thinking was roughly:
"Can I find properties which map to the major parts of ReaperTheme UI's (say top 10-20 most visible/impactful variables)?"

If so, it would be quick work to write a converter which could (mostly) give you a general color palette matching the Live theme.
Just a thought though. I'm pretty familiar with ReaperThemes and WALTER, just not at all familiar with Ableton's ".ask" format and their theme variables.

But yeah, maybe either many ".ask" properties wouldn't have close ReaperTheme equivalents, or it would require mapping a lot of properties to be useful (or some combination thereof).

Wow, I have to say that the WALTER config for the TCP layout and use of space is some of the best I've ever seen.

Look at how practical and usable this TCP space is:
(Full images: https://i.imgur.com/cGABCez.png, https://i.imgur.com/xLEK0V5.png)

----

EDIT:
  • The MIDI notes are not from the theme default just to be clear (I use Paulie 5 MIDI note colormap as override in every theme)
  • The ReaNoir + SWS Color theme used is "Pastel Smooth Paulie", from the pack of ReaNoir palettes provided by gianfini (linked in the ReaNoir thread main post): http://forum.cockos.com/attachment.p...9&d=1497722178
  • I will attach the ReaNoir + SWS Color theme directly at bottom of post (you must rename the .SWSColor.txt to .SWSColor)

not bad but the MSR button for sends/outputs etc is SOO confusing with Solo/mute/record button.
I would prefer the original symbol or something.
