Default What motivates you for online jamming (NINJAM)?

Although there is not much activity on the forum, there are people who play regularly in the NINJAM enviroment.

Even after more than 10 years, I think it's admirable that people can keep an activity going. Besides that, many people don't use NINJAM anymore.

I wonder what motivated you to use NINJAM for a long time?

As far as I can see, some people find that motivation only with certain people or with certain kinds of music. I'm not judging anyone on this, I'm just curious.

My personal motivation is that with synchronized sounds there is the possibility of reaching beyond our minds. I want to express this at every opportunity because I think we can achieve more beneficial results when our motivations are harmonized.

Besides that, the fact that a jam can technically be listened to live from outside and recorded, and the fact that I can archive and categorize the jams I like also motivates me. NINJAM (with ninbot.com) provides all this for free.

We have all the possibilities, but the only thing we lack is that relatively few people know about this system and use it regularly.

So why do we need more people?

Because the more sounds combinations, the more synchronization. The more sounds, the more possibilities. I get excited when I think of beautiful melodies that many of us use as samples being played on NINJAM with authentical instruments. I wish this were possible.

After all this happens, and maybe in the distant future, it would be great if these jams could turn into a real online concert and with have an audience.

My personal motivation is the lack of a real band to jam or record with. That's because after some age i became a bedroom player, although in the past i participated in some bands and recorded some tracks.
Ninjam gives you the possibility to play with others from the web, although is not a realtime jam. But probably in the future hardware equipment and superfast fiber broadband connections will allow realtime jams.
Jamulus software is a development in that direction, although many technical problems and lag appears for players from far away countries.
Ninjam still remains a well built method to jam in its own way, provided all the participants follow it's simple rules!

Thank you for the reply. I think the intervals (bpi) method will always remain valid for opening up to the whole world. No matter how much technology develops, as long as the speed of light is constant, latency will bother us.

I was aware of a possibility like NINJAM about 10 years ago, but I never used it regularly until the last 3 years. I first connected, played, said "it was nice" and quit. This was also a bit related to motivation towards making music.

Then I started to use it regularly and looked for people from my country (Türkiye) who would use it regularly. Unfortunately, I couldn't find many people.

When I think about it now, I realise that this was actually a mistake because using NINJAM only in our country limits us to reach all the sounds from the world.

After I realised this, I met a lot of people all over the world where we can reach a common synchronisation and combine our melodies, which I think is more than a real band can do, of course the pleasure of making music in the same place will always be more, but we can open up all possibilities with a system like NINJAM. It's also possible to combine both local and global sounds, for example, in a few hours there will be an event like this in Brazil and I'll be able to connect to it from Türkiye without any problem, it's incredible.
