Default Using Reaplugs in Ardour

I am a fan of rea vst plugins.I am able get them working in ardour using linvst bridge, but would prefer to use them natively. I have tried placing the .so files in a few locations but they dont show up in ardour.
Anyone got any ideas to get them working ?
Thanks so much.

I highly doubt you can. Just use them in REAPER

You could always download the free 2016 REAPER plugins for Windows,

https://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/

and then bridge them with Yabridge or LinVST. They won't be current, and they won't be native Linux, but they would be REAPER plugins functioning in Ardour.

https://manual.ardour.org/working-wi...lugin-manager/ the manager will tell you alot. Obviously .so ext is for RNL. But I have got quite a few plug ins from other platforms working by changing the .ext BUT I do not reccomend just trying this... without understanding how your DAW and specific plug in work.

Im not sure if it helps you but you can use jsfx in any vst3 compatible host with https://github.com/jpcima/ysfx.
Ive tested it and it works good

Definitely. I don't think I could live without REAPER for my audio work at this point.

I don't think this would work for ReaPlugs given they are .so files not jsfx (which are essentially just plain text files).

go to the folder where you saved the extracted ysfx.so and open a terminal there

Code:
mkdir -p ~/.vst3/ysfx.vst3/Contents/x86_64-linux
Code:
mv ysfx.so ~/.vst3/ysfx.vst3/Contents/x86_64-linux
Attached Images
File Type: png ardour_ysfx.png (95.6 KB, 74 views)

my apologies ...

Should have mentioned this is for Windows 10 platform.
I'd like to have a JSFX as a VST3 in a different DAW.

Thanks!

I see from your Sig you have multi Talents.

40+ years ago, I did some Basic Programming [for fun/relaxation] ... not today.

I had hope someone had the VST3 version already.

BTW ... some very nice Songs on your Music site

No, Carla cannot do that. If it is helpful, I might have some time this weekend to build a ysfx Win binary for you.

Last versions of Carla can load jsfx (ysfx is embedded in Carla) but without GUI if plugins have one. For simple plugins (with a few parameters), it is usable, but not if plugins have too much.

Good to know. They should really update their documentation in that case. I tried ysfx many months ago in Ardour and, even on non-gui jsfx, I remember that there was odd enough behavior that I stopped using it.

Yes, there are strange behaviours, specially with GUI's plugins. It is better to change parameter's values with 'Slide' view, with 'Graphic' view, changing parameter's value doesn't work correctly.

I hate to say I'm in the same boat. I love Reaper but the fact I can't make a simple seamless looping sound is absurd...so to Ardour.

I too have tried to get the native built FX working to no avail. So sadly I've grabbed the Windows only VST Standalone pack but it's comically lacking everything I use.

That said I'd much rather Cockos fix the ONE deal breaking issue I have but I'd wager I've got better odds at the lottery. (Problems been reported by many for years.)
