Default Things Im likely missing

I come from the land of Digital Performer, and love it.
However I'm a big fan of learning something new.
Things Reaper is missing?
(Question mark because I might be missing the obvious)

Post Fader. inserts (Yes there are workarounds, no I'm not interested in that)
Melodyne Pitch shifting like functionality built into the Daw.
(Not interested in using the light version of Melodyne, or spending over 1000
Canadian on the full version of Melodyne. Digital Performer is considerably more
flexible then Melodyne light)

Reaper is a very powerful Daw, with a wildly inconsistent interface.
Regardless of any perceived flaws to me, I certainly understand the appeal
after working with it for a few months on somebody's record.

Cheers

Stephen

Ok so there's a feature in reaper that is more so like a pitch automation. it has one of the best if not the best Algorithms for pitch shifting. far better then melodyne's.

To Use that Feature, you have to

1. Select an media item
2. Run the Action "Take: Toggle take pitch envelope" from the action list.
3. then change the pitch shifting algorithm to the type of media you are using. to do so, you have to open the media item properties window :-

4. click the first list:-

5. Choose the Desired Algorithm. Mostly, for stereo melodies, instruments and drums, the "elastique 3.3.3 pro" works great.

but if you are using vocal material then I ever only suggest the "elastique 2.2.8 Soloist" and in the second list next to it, make sure it is on "Monophonic" :-

"just see for yourself how clean the "elastique 2.2.8 Soloist" sounds on vocal material
