Gain reduction meter in channel strip

Would be great. Of course we need to use our ears, but why do we have metering an clip indicators in the first place?
Because we don´t hear when a track is playing back something? Because we can not hear when something is clipping?
It´s just faster to identify problems with lots of tracks.

There never will be any unwanted clipping within the channel strip due to floating point sample format. Clipping only happens when rendering to fixed point format or to audio output.

It´s about illustrating the problem. When we record, we are so used to meters and clip indicators for avoiding a clipped recording. Although we can hear it clearly..
When you had a gainreduction meter, you get so used to use it (it´s also on all the dynamics plugins for a reason right?)

Any news or update on this? I would love this for my live mixing setup with REAPER.
This is the only thing Pro Tools does better than most DAWs. It is so well integrated there. Please consider adding it to REAPER.

Bump. It looks like Reaper has already added the support for Presonus' VST gain reduction extension. Can we get just a simple overlayed GR meter on top of the existing meters?
