Render item slices into separate files?
Hi there,
I am trying to figure out a way to render all / selected item slices from the playlist into separate files. Is there such a command or script?
The idea is to build a RS5K drum machine with different velocities (which exist in the sliced item), by loading them into each RS5K instance. For this I think it is easier to have all slices as separate files.
Thanks,
- A

Hmm, but isn't stem rendering focused on splitting tracks as opposed to separate slices?
Here's a screenshot. I have all the slices cut up from a single item in the playlist in a single track. What I'm trying to do is render all the slices in separate .wavs or .flacs or whatever:

I understood you correct. Why don't you check for your own what options Reaper? There is Selected media items option. Also you can glue them using scripts:
Script: Archie_Item; Glue selected items each individually.lua
Script: X-Raym_Glue selected items independently.eel

Thanks, Vitalker. I can't find that 'selected media item' option, but X-Raym's script you recommended works decent enough.
I did try to find out how to do this initially. The thing is, I'm new to Reaper and there are SO MANY WAYS things are labeled or can be performed, it's sometimes difficult to figure it out.
Thanks again.

Don't know if it's quite what you're looking to achieve, but if you select the slices, then R-Click > open in external editor > open copies in "<<name of editor>>", you should get each slice a separate file in the editor.
Obviously, you need to define an external editor in prefs... for example Audacity or any wave editor.
In my case, I use Audition and it works a treat, whereas I just tried it with Audacity and for some reason there was a huge time-lag in opening all the slices. No idea why!

Maybe because each slice was opened by a new instance.

yup... plus I got a funny message when I closed all the instances about Audacity not "exiting gracefully" or some-such... not going to lose any sleep over it as I hardly use Audacity, except for the loopback driver, which is great for capturing audio from streams.

Hi, actually I tried that before posting on the forum, however it froze my computer as there were too many samples (I guess). Thanks for the tip, though.
