Default Is there an action to zoom vert and horiz to full project?

Is there an action I can make a key command for that will zoom to the full project , horizontally and vertically? I can't seem to find one.

Cubase has this and it's really useful to be able to hit a key and the whole project is visible on your monitor.

In addition to the 'View: Zoom out project' native Action, there are some 'zoom to project' scripts from me2beats available in ReaPack (https://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=188510) which can be combined in a single Custom Action.

cheers. 'Zoom to project' only zooms horizontally not vertically, so I think the answer is there's no single command but you have to make one with a macro.

I think this should do what you want, it works for me.

SWS: Toggle zoom to selected tracks and time selection, minimize others

If you also want to zoom horizontally, you can probably create a macro for this.

Tod, that's not what I'm after. I have the regular Zoom set up just fine. what I'm after is a key command like in Cubase where regardless of project length and number of tracks you it a key and it 'zooms' or usually reduces to show the entire project on screen.

So everything in the project is visible at a glance.

So if you have a 2 minute project with 6 tracks it would be maximised to show it all and if you had a 30 minute project with 100 tracks they'd be quite small but still all visible.

Do you understand that most themes (default ones for sure) have minimal track height, hence you can't make them smaller even if you want to?

that's perhaps why there isn't the command I'm looking for then

Thanks, it also means then that a macro wouldn't work either so that helps me in no spending time trying to do something that has technical limits in Reaper.

here's looking forward to Vector graphics in V7 this is one area Cubase/Nuendo excels over Reaper...Scalable GFX on everything.

ah.. I thought you were telling me why thee was/is no command to zoom to entire project.

You and I seem to have a communication problem LOL I'm sure if we were actually sat together this wouldn't be the case....

I'm mixing all day in the Studio today so will have a bash at a Macro to see if I can get something that works across the board and report back.

I'm also setting up a Stream deck so am making actions etc for this at the moment too. this 'Zoom to full project' would be a nice button.

Sorry, I've deleted previous post. Wanted to make it more clear.
You didn't understand it correct. It is possible with scalable, too.
There is no technical limitation, you can change minimum track height to 1 px, if you like.

That's not about communication, just about the way your way of thinking works. You still are thinking in Cubase categories, where there are many limitations. Of course Reaper has its own limitations, but sometimes you can hack them or workaround, while in Cubase you can't. That's Germany against USA.

Good you want to see tiny track heights, not sure why, but ok, if you want it. Reaper has its navigator, maybe coming closer to what you want. Regarding Cubase its stone age DAW how I call it, or properly using German Cubase is Steinzeitdaw. Have fun with Steinzeitdaw.

I thought all DAWs have navigator, but couldn't find whether Cubase has. Looks like no.

it does have a navigator. I think people are not quite understanding the simplicity of what I'm looking for.

one keypress and you can see you're whole project on your monitor, fitted perfectly, regardless of length and number of tracks.....

simples.....

I'm not after anything esoteric

I can do this with the mouse zoom and key clicking but it's slower.

All right. I write it last time. You won't see all your tracks, if there are more than 100 (or other limit, depends on you screen size, resolution etc.), because most themes have minimum like 20-30px.

here's the Macro if anyone wants to use it;

View: Zoom out project
Track: Select all tracks
SWS: vertical zoom to selected tracks, minimise others ignore last track's envelope lames)
Track: Unselect(clear all selection of) all tracks.

Now, we need a screenshot what you are seeing? e.g. in a project with 200 tracks.

LOL, I haven't had a 200 track project for a while , most productions I do or mix are 100 tops, usually a lot less. This wouldn't work for film dubbing and large orchestral mockups with huge track counts. This is for 'normal' projects/mixes I do most of the time.

Biggest track count I've had recently was 72 tracks @96k , so with busses and auxiliaries it was around 100 when I was doing the mixing. All beautifully recorded at Mark Knopfler's Studio

Aah okay, now I understand Norbury. You might be able to get it to zoom out horizontally. There's already an action to minimize all tracks.

Okay, I just made a custom action to do this, it's very simple.

Code:
Minimize tracks, Zoom horizontally all project
     View: Minimize all tracks
Transport: Go to start of project
     Time selection: Set start point
Transport: Go to end of project
     Time selection: Set end point
     View: Zoom time selection

Yeah, me too, most of my projects are less then 100. Mine do add up though, because I have a lot of midi tracks. Midi tracks probably account for 70% to 80% of my projects.

Tod,

I don't want them minimised, i want all tracks to 'Fit' into the full monitor space. If I@, working with say 10 audio tracks and hit this macro then they're all maximised to the appropriate amount of space. If they were minimised they'd be tiny. Obviously if i have 150 tracks then they'd be tiny as well but you get my point.

My Maco works perfectly

Try it and you'll see.

Aaah sorry, I missed that post.

I've got one too for zooming in vertically and horizontally to selected tracks.

I'm new to this post but truly appreciate what you mean above.

Do you mean a custom action?

This is a macro, so you make a new custom action , give it a name-Zoom to project- and then drag each one of those actions from the left hand window to the right hand window in order.

Saves it then just go to the actions menu and you’ll find the new action ‘Zoom to project’ . Make a key command and or a toolbar icon and you’re good to go.
