Any chance we can start linking to super wide images, its making reading the pre forum hard work.

Better to not post super wide images, it's just good manners, there is even a full tutorial somewhere here in the forum.
Anyway back on topic....
Embed UI in TCP seems to break WALTER if you have the fx list in the TCP too, there is no documentation on the WALTER pages for embed UI, so I assume it has no actual parameters.

though it helps, doing this doesn't solve the issue of unnecessarily massive licecaps and screenshots -- the middle-mouse scroll button doesn't work anymore when someone comes along with a 3-display licecap where the important bit can be cropped to a 300 square pixel image.
the larger your licecaps, the less likely i'm going to look at it, and i may start making fun of you
edit: in the previous page, it was because a large image got quoted. quoted images should get auto-linked, maybe

Hi, my track left drag mouse modifier is set to area selection. When I do this the mouse pointer is not regular default arrow, it is arrow + square. I think the mouse pointer should stay as default arrow but when I make left-drag it should change to "arrow+square"
regards.

Issues found so far....
1 It is not over-riding the 'one shot' tag when tempo match is turned on, so the first gif above somehow has gotten tagged as one shot (Not sure if that has happened in a Reaper build, will keep an eye on that, it wasn't one shot when I rendered it originally, but I had to switch it back to loop in Sound forge)
2 Acid 'Loop' tag is partially being read entirely wrong too, I can send you the exact same file from a pack that is available as Acid 'loop' and RX2, the RX2 loads fine, the Acid 'Loop' loads wrong. (See gif)
Note that I say partially reading Acid 'Loops' wrong, it seems to only effect Acid 'Loops' with markers (Again see gif) that give you the option to load sliced or as single media, with an Acid 'Loop' that is just Tempo/Length/Meter it loads fine.

[edit] fixing, thanks.

Just wanted to say many thanks for doing the hard task of implementing area selection. It's already proving massively useful!
Thanks Devs!

@schwa
If I render a WAV file with an embedded metadata image file binary. a jpg for example.. Then I cannot import this wav into REAPER. Blank track appears with the option to "Add rendered items to new tracks in project". A message appears saying "REAPER Error. Cannot import 1 of 1 items" if I drag the wav into the arrange from explorer.
Removing the image file binary metadata and it imports ok. The file with image metadata plays just fine on VLC player for example. And the image is displayed correctly.

if you delete a file in MX, then hit the "up" arrow key, a non-existent placeholder file at the end of the file list is selected:
expected behavior: when a file is deleted, the next file in the file list should be selected.

It would be great if this action can be made to include selected AIs too, even if the AIs aren't linked to any MI. (This would allow users to copy/move selected AIs -- a long awaited feature.)
BTW, in case this hasn't been mentioned yet: the right borders of Area Selections do not align precisely with MI and AI borders, so at first glance it always seems as if the Areas don't fully cover the items:

Subproject strange fade behaviour
In this subproject, when I CTRL+SHIFT+drag this item (Copy Item Vertically), the fade-out is removed from the original. In the original project behaviour works fine.
In the same subproject, if I delete the first item, the fadeout on the second item is removed.
Here's the subproject. Confirmed that behaviour happens without source audio file present.

Move area selection when "Show overlapping media items in lanes" option enabled.
Would it be posible to simplify drawing? All this movement doesnt look good..

Found a bug in mouse modifiers. If you try to set media item left click to "add to item -> just add" it will instead set it to "add items to time selection and set time selection to items"

Not sure if this has been asked for but would it be possible to have a mouse modifier for Area selection so that any thing it copies (midi items and automation items) can be copied as an alias if possible?
At the moment there's no way I can find to copy both automation and say a midi item to a new place but with both types of items being Alias copies and not independent ones.
I guess this could get tricky with half copies (say in the middle of an item) but if there's any way to do this that would be amazing!
If not possible with area selection. Be great if it could be possible with the normal copy instead

The right-drag for marqueeing is the first thing people ask me "can I change that?"
I always set Mouse Modifier for "Track" context Left drag to "marquee select items"
with shift as "marquee add to item selection" and ctrl as "marquee toggle item selection"
then the "draw labels above items" Preference.
It seems like the best of both worlds for selection/dragging of items to be unaffected while dragging to draw a box with the left.. but I'm looking forward to seeing how this new Area Selection change pans out!
