Checking the "selected" part is doable -- the MIDI Inspector does that already -- but checking changes in CC lane layout/visibility and zoom/scroll is slow.

Hmmm... I've just managed to write a function that determines the CC lane layout by
1) checking the position of each lane's CC name child window to find the bottom of each lane;
2) to find the top lane divider, reading pixel colors upwards from the topmost CC name till it finds the piano keyboard.
Quite an ugly hack, but it works in less than a 1/1000 of a second, so promises to be usable.
That still leaves scroll and zoom, unfortunately. EDIT: And timebase.
EDIT 2: And scripts can check very fast if the mouse cursor is over a lane divider by checking whether the cursor is an "I-beam".

Just came here to say having the multitool enabled by default when selecting stuff would be awesome! I am worried though..would we miss any of the existing options when selecting data without multitool? Like simple drag up/down (also available with shift control + mousewheel) for example.
Another dream feature ( its really hard to think on how to improve this!) would be to have the handles colors picked up from the available colors Reaper is using on the current theme. Thinking about cubase, I think the visual integration is a bit more tidy there (although you can do half of the stuff than with the .multitool).
Keeping an eye on the auto enable progress Julian! I voted on the FR already

I have to say, that this side of the reaper community really impresses me. The speed that people reply and the willingness to find solutions.

If it is enabled by default, the zone interface will need to be different, so that REAPER's native editing functions are still available. For example, handles will only appear on the lane divider, and only when the mouse crosses the divider.

It would be difficult for a script to decide by itself what the most appropriate color scheme would be for every theme, so instead, it allows the user to customize the colors: If you right-click on a zone, you get an option to customize the zone color and zone size.

Do you mean that the notes aren't playing back properly after editing using pink and orange areas?

How to get the Multi Tool to work in Reaper 6x?
I am a newbie, so sorry for the ignorant question.
I loaded ReaPack and have Multi Tool in my piano roll toolbar. It either toggles on or off, but I cannot figure out how the script activates giving me what everyone else sees in the previous posts.
Do I have an old script, or am I just messing up?

The most common reason why nothing seems to happen, is if the mouse is not over any CC lane when the script starts, so the script doesn't know which CCs you intend to edit.
If you assign the script to a toolbar button, clicking that button will only *arm* the script for later execution.
(Personally, I wouldn't advise you to use a toolbar button. Rather just link the script to a keyboard shortcut.)
Please check out the script's extensive help documentation, which can be read in REAPER's built-in script editor (by clicking the "Edit" button in the Actions list), or in ReaPack's "About" window. Or check out the first posts in this thread.

Specifically, right-click the toolbar button to arm it.
I use it in a toolbar and I like that workflow better than using a keyboard shortcut. Can't really say why.
Select the CC you want to edit, right-click the toolbar button, and then click in the lane to start the script. Then left-click the armed toolbar button to deactivate the script.

The Multi Tool has been updated to work across multiple track automation lanes.
To edit multiple lanes, either make razor selections across the lanes, or select AIs in each of the lanes.
The guide zones are only displayed in the lane under the mouse, but edits affect all lanes.

Just synchronized my packages and saw this update.
WOW!
Razer edit + Multi tool puts Reaper at the top of the list for the most advanced envelope editing functionality of ANY DAW I believe.
Kudos!
I'd still love to see standard ctrl-z/ctrl-shift-z for undo/redo working inside of the multitool interface without causing the gui to close. The little side button is perfectly elegant but muscle memory is too strong, I will ALWAYS hit ctrl-z to undo before I remember I shouldn't.
I understand if that's not possible, or just too complicated to implement, I just thought it was worth mentioning as you have already taken this tool above and beyond what I initially thought was possible.
Thanks again for the awesome work Julian.

Please check out the first post of this thread, or the help documentation inside the script file, which can be read in any text editor, or REAPER's own script editor (the "Edit action..." button in the Actions list). If anything is unclear, please let me know!
