Default Ability to automate hardware output sends

I’m super lazy and want to be able to map a midi knob to my playback volume. The best I can do now is map it to the master fader, but I don’t want to effect that while I’m mixing obviously. If it were possible to automate and then connect the “Master Channel Audio Hardware Output” send, I could use that to control just my playback volume, without effecting my actual mix (just like a normal monitor knob)!

I'm also looking for this functionality.

Place something like "JS: Volume" in the "Monitor FX" chain and see if you can automate that. Monitor FX only affects what you hear and not the mix itself.

Thanks karbomusic! (I just implemented the same solution.) For bypassing the monitor chain, I'll just need to setup the actions to bypass everything except that volume control.
