Systematic freeze with Focusrite Clarett USB at 96kHz

I create a new Reaper project at 44.1 kHz. My Focusrite Clarett 4pre USB is connected and everything works normally. I then go to project properties and set the project to 96 kHz. Reaper then hangs and I have to close it.

Focusrite has a beta driver (ver. 4.64.15) that solves this problem: beta.focusrite.com.

However Reaper still hangs when loading a project that has a different sample rate than the actual one. Let's say you were working on a 96 kHz project and then load a 44.1 kHz project, then Reaper hangs when the Clarett is switching sample rate.

A workaround is to uncheck the option "Preferences > Audio > Device > Allow projects to override device sample rate" and manually switch the sample rate on the Focusrite Clarett when switching project.
