Default Reaper crashes when attepting side chaining

It's not happening on all my projects, only on some...
when trying to side chain, as soon as I change on the send, the receiving channels to 3/4, even if there isn't a plugin assigned to the bus track, Reaper crashes... please find the attached crash report and thank you.

Thanks for posting the crash log. It shows the plugin "Acme Opticom XLA-3" is what's crashing. Is that plugin always involved when you experience a crash like this?

thanks for your replay, it is not involved at all as far as I can see, unless it is still affecting it from one of the (many) frozen tracks?
also it is crashing even before assigning a plug in to the buss I'm routing to..as soon as I change channel send to 3/4 it crashes ..

All I can tell you is, that plugin crashes while trying to process samples, so it must still be active in the project somewhere. My expectation would be that the track channel change is affecting the number of channels that is being sent to that plugin in some way, and the plugin isn't handling the change properly.

Feel free to post other crash reports if you think they might show something different. For your reference, you can usually search for the text "thread crashed" to quickly see if the crash is originating within REAPER or with a plugin.

OK I bypassed this plugin that was running on 2 other tracks (that are not related to those I'm trying to side chain)and.. it worked!
so strange..what could be causing this?
thanks so much for helping me solve this
