Default RetroSonic Theme Escapes into the Wild! - Version 1d Released

RetroSonic has finally been released into the wild!

Update: Version 1D

-Added Additional faders for Bellaire Slim

-Revised TCP moved inFX adjacent recmode and made recinput stretchable.

-Changed I/O on Bellaire TCP to similar style of Bellaire MCP

-Reorganized TCP/MCP selection menus

-fixed not showing green or yellow faders on El Dorado CS

1c: Now one file thanks to assistance form lucas_LCS.

-streamlined file structure

-eliminated duplicate and unnecessary files

-replaced recarm graphic

-updated I/O graphic on Bellaire series.

-made minor cosmetic improvements

1b: Bugfix

1a: Streamlined and eliminated redundant files, added TCP and MCP Separators

In the first screenshot we see it showing off the newly polished transport section salvage off a 1953 DeSoto.

Next we see the meters come to life and the stylish Candy Apple Blue Transport.

For those who prefer a less flashy transport, flat gray is an option and all the transports can be selected with or without that naughty rate slider there to accidentally get nudged and mess up a day of recording.

ADDED FEATURES!

I added several additional color faders for the Bellaire Slim Channel Strip. See screen shot below.

I also revised the TCP layout a bit, giving it a some TLC. I spent most of my focus on the MCP and the transport during the build. I tackled the TCP first when I was extremely green and I still had a lot to learn (not that I still don't )

Have known issue with default MCP which should be El Dorado Channel Strip not loading consistently. Any help with debug would be appreciated.

Update: Problem Solved! Had to make sure all MCP option definitions after first "Default" option had Layout declared at the top of Walter definition for the MCP and Endlayout at end to close out first option with fader variations sandwiched in between instead of no layout declaration at top and layouts declared and ended individually at the bottom. This evidently created an open loop in the Walter code.

I would try this but your zip files don't seem to work for me. The 001 files unzips, but the 002 won't. And trying to just use the 001 files yields some very wonky results. Too bad, because it looks cool from the screenshots.

You have to put both files in the same folder (directory) and unzip the first file. This will automatically unzip both files and you will end up with a Reaper theme file to install normally. Ensure that both files you download are the same version. I have uploaded two revisions spaced closely together due to a bugfix.

Edit: You will need to make a fold to put these two files in and extract. It will create a RetroSonic.ReaperThemeZip or a RetroSonic.ReaperTheme and a RetroSonic folder

If it creates the RetroSonic.ReaperThemeZip simply click to install.

If it creates a RetroSonic.ReaperTheme and a RetroSonic folder you will need to move them into your ColorThemes Directory. In Reaper, click on Option / Show Reaper resources paths in explorer finder... Then open the ColorThemes folder and drag the two files and drop them inside and you are done.

Glad I got going for you. I have been on the other side of the equation many times, trying to figure out why it's not working and frustrated. Hope you enjoy the theme.

Too late, I am trapped in the Walter/Bermuda Vortex.

Edit: Preliminary work has begun on the Hummingbird Project (Hush, Hush, Area 51 type stuff, I really shouldn't have mentioned it here [and i didn't say this -- this isn't me typing {P.S. DON'T SHARE THIS STUFF WITH ANYONE ELSE ON THE INTERNET}]).

My text needs a different color? Can't really see anything, would like a different color on the transport as well.

Any chance you could talk me through this? LOve the theme!

Can't find the separators either? What have I done? lol

Glad you love the theme, thank you.

What text needs to be a different color?

What color would you like to change on the transport? BTW - the optional transport colors are available from the Options/Layouts/Transports menu if you are looking for them.

The separators are "TCP Separator" and "MCP Separator" and are at the bottom of their respective option lists.

Thanks!

The text overall seems to be white/ grey on my screen. Track names can't be read, I'm sure it's something on my end.

Any help would be appreciated, it is a great looking theme, and I can't wait to get started working with it.

@retro

My bad, didn't see the config file. I'm assuming I need to do something with it?

I'm sorry to trouble you, and I appreciate your time and efforts.

If it's not too much trouble, could you give me instructions on how to use that file, I'm sure it will look a lot better once I do that.

So far I have drag and drop into Reaper, looks good except the text and other items not colored/ tinted correctly.

Maybe in my preferences?

Thank you again for any help!

Peace

Glad it worked out for you. I created a new theme page and took down the old one because there was a problem with the link so it didn't download properly causing you to have to manually unzip and place it in the ColorTheme folder. Hopefully it is click and install now.

Glad its working for you. I created it to match my work flow which focuses on the mixer and I like to maximize arranger view space.

Yes, that is my way of working as well. I spend most of my time and efforts in the mixer window.

Worked with it about 3-4 hours last night tracking guitars.

So far, works like a champ my friend, very easy on my eyes even after a long day staring at screens at work.

Congratulations, looks like a keeper. Will be doing more tracking today, then starting rough mixes tomorrow, hopefully!.

Peace
Thanks again.

I had the same problem. Resolved by going into the theme adjuster, bringing up highlights and a little mid tone. Now it's very readable.

So far, so good!

Looks good, easy for me to feel at home, and it looks great as well.

Fine job, outstanding! Obviously I'm keeping this as my theme for the foreseeable future.

What is the Delta update? Contain?

Glad you are enjoying the theme, Steve.

The new update added color fader options for the Bellaire Slim and revised the TCP layout a bit. I listed the details on the top post. I should noted that in the previous post. It did not occur to me at the time that it would not be obvious to check the first post for update information.

I've switched to the latest.

Truth be told, I wouldn't have cared to change anything. Some users will use the new features, I'm fine either way.

Great job Retro, thanks for being so generous with your time and knowledge. It's appreciated.

Thanks, Steve.

I like to add options for users and I also hope the better organized menus will make the track selection process better for you.

New menu organization works great, is great as a bonus, really was fine without it. In my opinion only.

Going on a mixing run today after tracking a solid eight hours yesterday.

Working like a champ, wish I had some constructive criticism, but there's nothing slowing me down. Other than MY lack of talent lol.

Did a fine job with this theme, can't see any reason I would ever change at this point, of course I'm more of a player than producer.

Kudos, can't wait to see all your future work, outstanding bro.
