Default Can the playback rate change itself automatically??

I am having the same problem I've had in the recent past, despite my installing/uninstalling, and re-creating my song/project from scratch. Somewhere along the way during the recording process, my playback rate changes from 1.0 to .961 or something like that. The playback rate of my audio tracks likewise is slowed down. When I correct this -- change the overall playback rate to 1.0 and each of the audio tracks to 1.0, while preserving pitch, the song is wildly out of tempo. I have a mix of audio and midi tracks, and I'm using a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 as my interface. I never had this problem with my Presonus Firebox, and I'm wondering if the interface has anything to do with it. The sample rate in the Saffire Mixcontrol software is set to 44.1, as it is in my project settings. Any thoughts, folks??

On the edge of extreme frustration in North Carolina,
Dave

Your project's timebase might be set to time, rather than beats.
Go to your project settings and check that you have beats (postion, length, rate) selected.
Are there any timebase markers in your project?
Personally I keep the timebase slider hidden (solves it being accidentally nudged).

It actually sounds like the opposite (time base set to "Beats" rather than time). If you record a drum track, then a guitar track, THEN adjust the Tempo to match, then everything will slip around and stretch. It would also explain why when you set everything back to 1.0, they all sound like they were recorded at different tempos.

will have to check but this sounds a bit weird - i thought the platrate was quite independent? could it be accidental envelope points instead of tempo?
