Default reaper not responding

win7 64 bit, reaper has started to hang when doing nothing special like clicking a new place to play in the ruler while playing back. when it hangs i have to power down the pc some of the time. any ideas how to troubleshoot this ?

Have you updated your video drivers lately? If not I would start there.

Whenever my PC starts to hang for no apparent reason the first thing I do is clean out the insides. Overheating has a drastic effect and the cleaning makes a night and day difference.

im only using default win 7 video drivers and its not overheating for sure

The first step would be checking if that happens in an empty project/a project without 3rd-party plug-ins.

thanks, i bet it is a plug in, i'll start killing them off. Is there any way for reaper to report what's causing a "not responding" please ?
