Action or API to trigger MIDI CC chase (like when playback is started).
Hi,
I was wondering whether it would be possible to have an action - or API function which simply triggers the same MIDI CC chase that happens when you start playback?
I'm adapting my Smart Knobs script to work with CC's as well as automation. The script works perfectly with automation as plugin parameters are always updated when you move the edit cursor on the timeline.
However - currently the only way to get the CC's to chase is to initialise playback and then stop it immediately afterwards. This obviously causes a short burst of audio - which is very distracting.
I've tried things like Muting the master or soloing various tracks - but when working with MIDI - you end up with release envelope tails and reverbs etc being audible when the audio is reinstated.
Ideally - moving the edit cursor on the timeline would chase the MIDI CC events exactly like when starting playback (ignoring Note-ons), but a simple action which I can trigger would be plenty enough for the CC's to be monitored and fed back to any attached MIDI controller by my code.
Even if triggering Pause could trigger the midi chase events - then this may also work (although I've noticed on my system - when pressing stop after pause - all CC events reset to zero).
I know improved MIDI chase when stopped has been requested before - but I don't know whether an action/API call to manually trigger the chase has been requested before.
This would make my script work perfectly (and allow for useful midi feedback to motorized faders and endless encoders) when jumping around the timeline with playback stopped.
I'm sure this would be useful to many others too.
Thank you for your consideration.
