Default Editing two tracks together

Hello All!

Thanks for a great forum.

So, I'm trying to record solo (fingerstyle) guitar with two mics. Each has a separate input in mono (I hope that's correct) via my Scarlet 2i2. I believe I've got a handle on levels and basic recording with much yet to learn in Reaper.

I'm trying now to edit (cut/paste/move etc), but I can't seem to figure out how to put the tracks together for editing. I'm doing them separately but it quickly gets goofy since I've just recorded the one guitar. I rather do them together for editing with the option of panning or adding effects separately later. I've tried "track grouping enabled" but I don't believe I have it correct.

Thanks!

Sandy

If neither track is selected, placing the playhead (edit cursor) over the spot where you want to make a split will split both tracks. You can also select both tracks if you prefer by shift-clicking or control-clicking them (command-click if you're on a Mac).

I know you're not doing classical music, but the great classical guitarist Uros Baric has some good introductions to editing in Reaper here: https://urosbaric.com/reaper-classical-music-editing; most of these tips will be applicable to your situation.

Reaper is selection based.

That means things selected together work together.

For example, two items both selected will respond to editing commands together.

This extends to nearly everything in Reaper.
There are grouping commands and such to make selecting multiple things quick as well. In this scenario, the group doesn't make things work together. It lets you select multiple things quickly. Then it's the fact the things are selected together that makes them work together.
