Default Issues with copying and pasting whole tracks between sessions

Hey folks
Before I say this, I am a HUGE fan of Reaper. I got myself off pro tools steadily to the point where I use Reaper as my DAW exclusively.
One issue I have run into however, is occasionally, when I use “Edit - copy items etc ignoring time line “ or even within timeline, to bulk copy a set of tracks, (i used to use the session import facility on pro tools which i liked) it seems a bit random on reaper whether it copies them in the right place on the timeline or not. I have tried matching my edit cursor position on each session, matching the timeline selection positions, everything i can think of that is logical. Sometimes it copies fine, sometimes the paste is greyed out, mostly it copies in the wrong position, etc.
Sometimes, even if i set a blank item at the same place before audio on each track to help with repositioning afterwards, it’ll paste those correctly, but the rest of the following items still import at the wrong place.
Anybody else run into this or anything comparative and have any thoughts?
It literally seems random, sometimes a complete restart fixes it without anything else being changed.

Have you tried saving the tracks as templates?

You know that you can copy / paste whole tracks (incl. content)?
Select track(s) (e.g. by clicking on track control panel), Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V

Yes I do know that. I’m not sure I explained my issue clearly enough. Ctrl C is effectively what I’m doing often, but still when i paste into a session it won’t appear correctly

No, wasn’t aware that could be done so it included the items

Ok, sorry then.
It seemed to me you're copy/pasting items (rather than tracks).
