Default Audio to MIDI VST?

I've been using ReaTune to create MIDI data from monophonic audio tracks (and it's worked wonderfully), but I need an effect that can be used in other DAWs and in Notion3 (notation software). Does anyone know of a good VST or JS plugin that converts audio to MIDI data (a free plugin would be better )?

I just checked, you can do this just with Reatune.

Put the audio item on track one.

Send that audio to track two, and put Reatune on track two.

On track two, right click the icon at the bottom of the track, to the left of the drop down menu, its the "select recording mode" icon.

Set that to record output record midi, now arm only track 2 and play/record it,

and it will produce a midi item.

Then you can just double click the midi item and save it from the Piano Roll Screen, File, Save etc.

I don't know if this will help with your question, the idea would be to just save the Midi File in Reaper and then it is available to use in any program.

Right, I know I can do this with ReaTune (and I use ReaTune in Reaper); the issue is that I need something like this for other programs in real time (so a MIDI export situation isn't really an option), and ReaTune only works in Reaper.

FYI... I found a few free VSTs that convert mono-audio to MIDI on the KVR audio site. Synodeia2 (http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1606.html) looks pretty promising.

Default Widisoft VST

I have a product from Widisoft,

http://widisoft.com/

which does complex audio to midi conversion. They have a vst version for real time conversion which I haven't tried. Neither one is free, but it's not real expensive and they appear to be evolvingf their technology real rapidly. It includes settings to allow different alogirithms for the conversion based on the type of music.

Later,
Hartley

I just purchased Toontrack's DrumTracker from AudioMIDI.com for $20!!!! It's part of AM's no brainer deal. Regular price is $129.

DrumTracker is sort of what you're looking for. Only difference, it's standalone. Go to toontrack.com and check out the information on Drumtracker and see if it's what you're after. If so, head on over to audiomidi.com and grab it for $20.

This really has nothing to do with this topic. DrumTracker is for replacing drums, not detecting pitch.
