Default Problems with Kontakt 5 output routing

I've created a Kontakt 5 VI track, and 16 channel output routing, but everything is being output via the first output channel, and the Output dropdown in Kontakt is not showing the 16 output channels - only the first one (see screenshot).

These are the steps that I followed:
- Insert virtual instrument on new track
- Select Kontakt 5
- click [Yes] on the "Build Routing confirmation" window
- open the FX window for the Kontakt track
- select [Options] >> "Build 16 channel of MIDI routing to this track"
- disable RecArm on the Kontakt track.

Any idea why I can't select the other 15 output channels in Kontakt?

That looks like my steps.

If so, you also need:
Quote:
Within the VSTi, load your instruments and set the routing for each one - receiving MIDI on a particular MIDI channel AND sending its audio to a particular audio output pair; depending on the VSTi you may need to do some additional configuration work within the VSTi itself (e.g. to create / enable the output channels).
You need to create those other output channels in the Kontakt Mixer.

IIRC you have to confirm the output routing within Kontakt before it becomes active. Even after almost 20 years with Kontakt I still forget that as well

How do I create output channels in the Kontakt mixer? I clicked [Yes] on the "Build Routing confirmation" window when the Kontakt FX was first added, and it created 16 Reaper tracks, but once in the Kontakt UI I don't see any way of creating output channels. I can select an output channel for each VI, but there is only ever one output to choose from in the dropdown list, despite Kontakt having previously created 16 tracks.
???

Have a look at the Kontakt Manual - 16 The Outputs Section

There is a difference between channels in the Kontakt Mixer and outputs from the Konakt Plug-in and channels on the Reaper track.

Here is an old pic showing a simpler case using kontakt 4, but the principle is the same.

Thanks for the info. I eventually pieced together a process that works in Reaper, based largely on info in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWBd...annel=JoshBour

For the benefit of anyone else who struggles with this in the future - the steps that work for me are:
- Insert Virtual Instrument (Kontakt) on new track
- Say Yes to "do you want to add the following tracks?"
- In Reaper FX: Options->Build multichannel routing for output of selected FX...Yes
- Display Kontakt output panel (select Output icon at top)
- Click Add channels
- Select e.g. 4 (Qty) and 2 (Channels) - will create 4 stereo tracks
- Check Delete existing channels before creating new ones
- Click OK
- Click -|- button for st.1 channel
- Select physical out channels for left and right channels
- Click >> and repeat for other channels
- Close and reopen Kontakt window
- Add an instrument from the Kontakt library
- Select Output - set to one of the stereo outputs
- Select Midi ch: omni for instrument
- Add other instruments and repeat
