Default It's alive! and a RAR question . . .

<surfer dude> Whoa, I'm stoked. I managed to get a Ramsa DA7, a Tascam MX-2424, and a PC featuring an RME DIGI 96/8/PAD card to talk to each other, pulled an old project off DVD-RAM into the MX and over to the computer, and mixed it in Reaper!</surfer dude>

I've never used a DAW. Ever. This is a milestone.

Anyway, I figured out some EQ and compression basics, but I need some 'verb and delays. It seems I need some convolution impulses. I found noisevault, but the files I've looked at are .RAR, not .WAV.

What's .RAR?

".RAR" is a compressed file format extension sort of like ".ZIP". Google up Win-RAR or something similar to decompress the file.

Thanks!

Another question: I bought a UAD-1, and I'd like to try it out for 'verb and compression. How the heck do I get it playing nicely with Reaper?

I don't have a UAD, but I hear they work very well in Reaper. There is, however, an option that needs to be selected, I believe.

"Preferences/Plug-ins/VST/UAD-1 synchronous mode...."

It's the very last option on that page.

Hope this was helpful.

try 7-zip. Free to use (for eternity, not some 30 day demo...) and pretty much compresses and decompresses every format you can think of.
