adding a midi part
Is it possible to add a midi part without having to record anything in real time..like can I just open up the midi editor to add notes without having to record something in order to create the part?

Place the edit cursor where the MIDI item will start, select the empty track that will be used.
Select "Insert", and then "MIDI Item". Now double-click the new MIDI clip. The MIDI editor should open up. HTH

Nice, thank you.
But is there a way so that when I dock the midi editor, no matter what midi clip I click on that clip will be displayed in the dock view instead of opening a new dock window for each midi clip I want to work with?
IN other words, i don't want a new midi editor dock window every time I want to edit a midi clip...just one.

Each selected MIDI item gets its own window for editing.
What exactly is the problem with that except that you apparently 'don't want' it?
Justin might introduce the option though that only one MIDI editor window will be visible in the docker, just as we have it now for the FX chain window view.

If you're talking about seperate clips, in the same track, select them all and glue them, they will then appear in the same editor.

Well, it makes unnecessary clutter for me in the tabs for docked windows, that's it basically.

hmm, i like this idea.
almost like the track fx window option to open its own track fx with the seleted track right?
you click on a midi part, the docker automatically changes to it?

Well gluing them all into one doesn't fit my style of working..i use a lot of different midi parts...on several different tracks...even if i did glue them all, each track would still have it's own part... and still have the clutter i'm trying to avoid.
Nice suggestion though.
