Mixer slider
Hi. I am brand new to reaper and just trying to get started by watching tutorial videos. I began with "First MIDI Song in REAPER - (Part 1/8)" but didn't get more than a few minutes into it before I encountered a problem. I'm hoping you kind folks can help me out.
My view of the mixer panel doesn't have the nice, tall sliders but rather knobs. (see the attached screen capture.) How do I get the sliders?

Welcome to the boards Rick.
Your screen capture doesn't quite show the whole picture of how you have set up your Reaper windows. But for many themes, when you resize areas like the mixer here, some controls might change places and sizes. E.g. faders can change to knobs when there is not enough space to show the full faders.
In your screen capture, there is a light horizontal line above the FX and routing buttons. If you bring your mouse cursor over that line, you'll probably see it change to up/down arrows. Now if you grab and drag up from that point, you'll make the given the mixer strip taller, which might also give you faders instead of knobs.
Do the same dragging up but with CTRL key pressed and you'll resize all the mixer panels at the same time.

Thank you for your reply. That did the trick. Now, how do I hide the master fader? (See new capture.)

Hover over the Mixer tab and right-click over it to get a menu. Top of that menu has Master Track. Go under it and untick "Show in mixer".
You might wanna save this and any other useful windows arrangements you might have for an easy access later on. For that, View/Screensets_Layouts. First tab is window screen sets. You can also define the Load (and Save) keys to make the screen set changes even faster.

You can right click over the Master and either turn it off or tick the 'Show on right side of mixer'. That puts the Master on the right the way most mixer boards are.

This did give me sliders. But when I slide the window over to try and hide all but one channel, as in the tutorial video, they revert back to the knobs. What am I doing wrong?

Right-click over the Mixer tab and untick from the menu "Show multiple rows of tracks when size permits".

Thank you. I'm afraid until I get a handle on all this, I'm going to be more of a taker than a giver on this board. Your kindness and generosity is much appreciated.
