Default Make 'lock active take' and saved comps stick even after new takes are recorded

Title says it all.

It defeats the purpose for those two things if the goalposts are moved around after a new take is recorded. Can this be fixed so that *those* two things are *fixed*?

my original post:

I've been recording using takes with Reaper. Immediately, a couple things jump at me by way of how this could be improved:

1. Why have 'lock to active take' when it's always going to jump to the most recent subsequent recorded take after you 'locked' the take you thought you were locking?
No point to this unless you're done recording takes.

2. Similarly, saving comps, keeps changing if you continue recording new takes after you've saved the comp, for instance if you add a new take the Take #'s saved with the comp is shifted as a result of new takes coming in to place.

Again, that to me is not a rock solid way of locking takes and saving comps.

If I lock a take, or save a comp, I expect that to be set in stone unless I intervene intentionally.

pretty please.

No point having 'locked' takes if they change up on recording new takes! Am I right, or what?

Undesired scenario resulting from this:

You comp a vocal track. You put a lock on some take sections as you know you want to keep them in the final comp.

Then you re-record over the track to get better takes on the other sections.

The 'locked' takes have now moved around.

Same for your saved 'comp'. It will be now be not what you intended after recording a new take post saving the comp.
