Default [SOLVED] Oeksound Soothe VST3 not being picked up in VST scan

Hi Peeps

Does anyone here use Soothe by Oeksound?

As a VST3 version is available I am installing that.

REAPER is 64bit as is Soothe.

File is in correct folder and that folder is being scanned by REAPER.

I suppose I should try the VST2 version...

cheers

VST2 version works.

I've logged a ticket with Oeksound support.

I'll report back

I always use the AU version on Mac but I just checked and the VST2 and VST3 versions are loading OK for me.

FWIW, they just released an update to Soothe the other day that may or may not help.

Wow! Was sorta interested till I saw the price! That seems like a lot of $$ for JAP (just another processor) but I have downloaded the trial.... we shall see.

I don't think it's JAP.

I can't think of another plugin that does anything close to what it does.

Thanks,

Oeksound have replied but have not helped.

I downloaded just the other day, version 1.3.0 and installed on my brand new workstation, which has not had any other versions of Soothe installed on it.

I suppose I could try uninstalling it via windows apps and features, and then reinstall.

Back later...

I removed the instance of Soothe from my test project.

I uninstalled Soothe using Windows apps & features and I checked to make sure that there were no Sooth DLL or VST3 files left on my OS drive.

I then downloaded the install file, again, from the Oeksound website and went through the installation process.

Opened my REAPER test project.

Only the VST2 version of Soothe was scanned.

FWIW I could download and install another DAW just to see if that scans it.

I have a brand new workstation here, clean install of Windows 10 Pro.

I have successfully installed 22 VST3 and 18 VST3i plugins and Soothe has been the only one to fail.

I have just installed Cakewalk and the VST3 version of Soothe scans, loads and functions fine.

So there must be a problem with my installation of REAPER on my new workstation.

As far as REAPER is concerned, I did a straight forward install and I am not using any fancy extensions or anything.

I suppose I will have to put up with the VST version as it doesn't look as though I will get any answers... A typical problem I guess when there are so many variations with regards to hardware/software setups...

Hey there, any further luck with the Soothe VST3?

I swear I've got it running okay on my home computer but am setting up a fresh machine and work and, like you, am running into issues with REAPER crashing on load.

I'll shoot a message over to oeksound and see if I can get a response out of them in case that enables me to update this thread.

I use Soothe VST3 every day. It's utterly fantastic. THere is no other plugin that does what Soothe does. For those who don't know, Soothe is on a short list of absolute MUST HAVE plugins if you record and mix live drums. The other two being Sound Radix Auto-Align and Drum Leveler.

Have you updated Soothe recently? An update came out a few months ago and it fixed some weird compatibility problem which I never had. Soothe still does have a weird problem in other DAWs where even if its bypassed, it'll mess up the latency if you're recording on other tracks.

Sometimes, if I have a plugin that refuses to work correctly, or not load, I drop the .vst3 file in a few different folders and then have Reaper rescan my plugins.

That can't be a decent ways to go. Regarding the VST specs, for VST3 dlls there is a single dedicated folder these need to be located in. (Other than with VST2 dlls, that can be installed everywhere.) I'm not sure that this really is an improvement, but AFAIK, this is what the specs say.

I had to do it when I bought the Waves DBX 160 plugin. It gave me fits for no real reason. Then a few months later, when I reached for it, I had 5 copies of it in my FX window hahaha. 5 is better than 0

Popping in again to say that my VST3 troubles with Soothe were only limited to a version which was available for a short time. After downloading an update, everything's great.
