Default Loading Reaper to external drive?

I clicked my Windows start button to access a program and saw Reaper in there.
When I hovered over it a tab for "Load Reaper on an External Drive" was available.

I know it is recommended to do this, but hesitant as everything works quite well right now as it is. I do have all my vst's and loops/clips in folders on my external drive already.
I'm of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mindset, and 90% of my work on Reaper is midi/vst.

Just wondering if I should click it and be done with it. I did have one project where I recorded several audio tracks from my synth and I do get some lag, but thats usually after I get above a certain number of tracks (about 8 or 9 as I recall). However I do keep it in mind that I am using a laptop over 5 years old.
I recently upgraded the ram to its max (2G) and that made a world of difference.
Just wondering what you all would suggest.

No.

Best setup is:

OS, apps (including Reaper), and plugins on boot drive.
Sample libraries on a second separate drive
Reaper projects and audio tracks on another separate drive.

Tim is right of course but just as an exercise I have tried recording audio tracks to an external USB drive. To my surprise this worked without a glitch with 4 tracks recording at once. REAPER efficiency never ceases to amaze me.
