He may be a little odd, but boy's got skills.
I find the snare sounds like claps layered and shortened, with Haas effect putting them in stereo.
A while back, I used to always want to have more snares, and more kicks, and all that, so that I could find whatever sound I wanted.
then, I discovered that made huge libraries that were very long to look through to find the right sound, and the right sound is never really there, even at that.
What is key, is to learn how to use compressors, and other effects in order to shape sounds to be what you want. Layering different sounds, using EQ, so many things you can do to create the sounds you want.
Find the closest thing you have to this snare, and try to turn it into this snare, or something very close.

That drum machine is freaking cool old school style, but I don't think he used it for this song. This drum machine is more like thriller album era, but listening to it, it does very much remind you of michael jackson, but I think that's because of that thriller album.

I agree with Sound asleep, shape your own sound to fit what you think it sounds like.
Heh heh, I have the actual real live LinnDrum machine and that's not what the great Jackson is using here.
