thanks justin!!!
love the synced transport now
REAPER v1.38 - November 12 2006
Download: 1.7MB installer
midi editor: editor cursor synchronized with main edit cursor ?
midi editor: default option for transport controls to control main transport love it
midi editor: improved zoom ballistics
midi editor: option to not show event velocity handles
midi editor: quantization options are saved and global, hotkey is now Q what does this mean?
midi editor: better editing options defaults
midi: looping playback now sends only the noteoffs necessary, rather than all notes off
fixed midi only sends occasionally making bad noises
fixed AVI DV playback
looking for in the future:
vsti GUI automation link to midi controller (see FLstudio)
guitar rig 2 compatibility

Midi editing coming along nicely now Justin
Still need to reinstate the ' key so that after editing a note with the transport running, the editor 'catches back up' up with the transport cursor.
I really liked that feature when it was working
Cheers

It is amazing to lurk here and watch the lightning fast development of this app. I am still trying to find time to do some serious recording and really evaluate Reaper functionally, but with midi coming along as it is, I'm quite sure I'll become a registered user soon (33 euro isn't bad at all). I'll surely recommend this app to my musically-active friends.

Outstanding release Justin. You have no idea how much difference the synchronised Transports make to workflow - it's like working with a different sequencer compared to the previous releases. Thank you!

It's good to see some nice stuff making the midi people happy, so I don't feel so guilty about being so happy about the audio side!

pretty please...
i would be in happy land with what i asked for a while back...
ie....while a song is playing i hit a function key on pc kbd (i dont even care if its exactly insynch as i can use mousey to adjust...)and midi drum fills or even better wave drum fills (from samples i specify..) were auto created ....so i could build up a whole library of drum fills at various tempos.
its the only feature left to fulfill all my reaper needs.
it would save me buying ezdrummer/bfd or any of the others etc.
(well ok....lol....generate the winning numbers for the lotto here ....lol)

Am I missing something? Where is the setting to make the midi editor transport control the main transport? And/or does it only work with newer files created since midi ceased to be external files?

Just in case, yes as Dandruff said it's in the MIDI menu. To get there, you have to right click next to any grey area where it says CC move with....

I've tested this with .MID file and sync did not work on my end with older version.

yeah it only works on midi-events, not when editing midi files. if you have midi files in a project you wish to convert, just select them, and right click->open copies in editor.
then close all the editors (or leave them open) and you will have new midi events. If you wish to remove the references to the .mid files (the old takes), you can right click->takes->crop to current take
-Justin
P.S. malcolm, I actually do have an idea how huge it is, hehe.. I was working on something when I Decided to do it, and it's sooo much nicer now. Also, btw, you guys can thank work done for video support for making this happen, so even if you dont use video, you can appreciate it..

Sure is. With the MIDI editor docked it's almost like inline editing. Thanks again.

I am afraid to report that some bugs are still here :
- note off when coming back at the beginning of a loop (as Dandruff already said) : you can't hold a chord on your midi keyboard ;
- when pause/stop is hit in a project where you use a synth with an arpegiattor, the arp is still playing after stop ;
- i keep having a very long note at the end of my clip. I see it only when i open the midi editor (in the track view everything is correct) ;
- and, also: is there any need in keeping an horizontal velocity line on each note in the midi editor ? We have velocity lanes, which is way better,isn't it ? And this way, by removing uneeded velocity lines on eaach note, it wxould make it easier to grab them

yes, when you stop while on a note. this should be fixed. but what has this to do with an appregiator? maybe it's just the same issue? is the appregiator an effect in the vsti?

I will check.
I don't have plenty of synths equipped with arpegiattors, but i have Firebird, and with this one at least the arp never stops.

- Odo Seeq-One
- Oatmeal
