Default Mega Beginner - No Electric Guitar Audio Detected On Track

Hi All!

Brand new Reaper user here (DAW in general really). I'm running into some difficulties getting Reaper to pick up audio from my electric guitar.
I've got my telecaster hooked into an ancient DigiTech RPx400 effects pedal that then has a USB type B to my computer. Reaper is able to see the MIDI device (picture 1), and the MIDI Track Control panel shows my pedal selections in the MIDI activity log (picture 2), yet there is no pickup when viewing the track itself (picture 3, red lines on the right).

What is extra frustrating is that I attempted troubleshooting by downloading Audacity to see if it was a problem with my hardware or setup. Audacity saw everything right away and I was able to record immediately... I just would rather use Reaper.

Anyone care to share some insights? I have to be missing something simple. Thank you!

Detailed Steps:
1. New project
2. Add Track
3. Arm for recording
4. Select Input > Input: MIDI > All MIDI Inputs > All Channels

At this point I check for input detection and start playing something on the guitar, nothing is detected. I attempt to record, nothing is recorded.

The sound of the guitar is audio not midi. Set up as it is, you should be able to record whatever midi message the thing sends when you press pedals and/or turn knobs, but you’ll never actually hear or record any actual sound this way.

Yeah...MIDI isn't what you want to record.

You would need to set the unit as your audio device in prefs and then choose an audio input to record.

A quick Google suggests they never released ASIO drivers for this so first try setting the audio to WASAPI and see how you get on.

Alright! Figured I was doing something incorrectly.
I'll mess around with those changes, I appreciate both of your quick replies!

Cheers ~
