Default v4: What happened to Dirac pitch/time corrector?

Hey guys, I noticed that the Dirac Pitch/Time algorithm seems to be missing from the dropdowns. What's happened to it? IIRC it was a very nice algorithm for applying a time/pitch correction over an entire mix wav.

The Dirac developer has never offered the Dirac LE (free of charge) library for Windows 64 bit, as far as I know...You should also be careful using it on mixed down stereo material, the free version (which is used by Reaper) does not keep stereo phase coherence, because it has to be used in the host app as separate mono instances.

Thanks for the heads up. Never noticed that Dirac was never been available in 64-bit versions before - my bad.

I also noticed that Dirac only utilises a single core, a real shame for realtime playback using the more advanced quality modes.

Is the phase issue ever likely to be addressed by the developer? Not that I'd used it for a while, but I just remember Dirac doing a particularly nice job over a whole mix.

Cheers

The Dirac developer offers stereo phase locked processing only in the commercial versions of the Dirac library. The out phase processing that happens due to the free version of the library might even sound cool, making stereo widening effects etc, so it's just a matter of taste and poor mono compatibility if the free Dirac version has a detrimental effect on stereo material or not.

Yea, I just tried it. Regardless of the phase issue the representation is more accurate with Dirac across the whole mix, using Lambda 1 Best mode (the only one that will play in realtime due to the stupid single core thing). There are less artifacts and instrument separation is maintained. Formant handling seems better with busy mixes too.

It's a real shame the developers can't come on board a little more with reaper, so to speak. Seems like it would be in both parties' interests.

Looks like I'm gonna have to dig out Prosoniq for mix adjustments.
