ah, o.k. - got it - it's DP - no wonder it looks so stunning since MOTU is the king of GUIs

That's a pretty tidy interface. I'm just not that fond of the gucci round corners on everything.

dang - was a moment too late - I just figured it out myself - DP would be one serious reason for me to change to OSX (it runs on my machine) - without having ever tried it just once it is my firm believe that it's the best DAW-software ever - but then again it's not exactly free either.

D.P. and some think the name Cockos is bad.

In School (MTSU) someone asked me "Have you been reading the DP manual" and I thought (WHAT!! oh yeah) "not really."

I do use DP for live applications.
For studio use, Reaper took DP's place because of its sound.
I am still missing key-features like show/hide tracks, in-line midi editing, integrated in-line pitch correction, though ... but the Reaper concept is so great that I got hooked !

I used DP for a long time - something weirdly confusing about it though - just drove me nuts...

Same here, I used it at school mainly and found it way too cluttered for me, messy grey floating windows etc...seems it's had a decent facelift in V6! I still prefer Reaper though. If I was doing soundtracks to picture then maybe, I did like it's editing features a lot, especially swiping on items.

DP used to crash on us too occasionally, spinning wheel of death and all that...I don't miss that at all.

No new software on LOL but a message.

1. DO NOT LINK TO THIS WEB SITE OR ANYTHING ON IT FROM ANYWHERE
2. PLEASE DISCUSS ONLY IN THE PRE-RELEASE FORUM
3. USE VERSIONS FROM HERE WITH CAUTION AND AT YOUR OWN RISK

Let us all follow Cockos' wishes. I would hate for them to have to take the site down, or make it only accessible with a password.

Don't know about DP6 yet, still waiting for it to turn up at work, but DP5 is quite the proverbial PAIN IN THE ASS to use.. seriously... using plugins with multiple outputs inside DP5... probably the most convoluted host to do stuff like this in.

Actually I think we may put a pass on it, but of course we'll post it here with more explanation..

hmm... from the new message on lol, my guess is whatever gets released next is going to be pretty early/dangerous code that probably isn't entirely suitable for a production environment. very keen to see what they're working on though...

i reckon it's a new version of nibbles, with a stereoscopic voxel engine.

I don't think so - my guess is rather that some people have been behaving very stupid so they feel a need to enforce the rules or at least make them much more obvious so that even the ID10Ts might become aware of the simple fact that this is unsupported preview-software.

Which reminds me of the following:

Marillion have put out a new album on which they have included a bonus track which doesn't actually belong to the album, which is a concept-album - so to seperate it from the other tracks they included an empty track - track1-10 = normal album, track11 = silence, track12 = bonus track.

After several customers sent their CD back because it was broken (it included an empty track) they felt a need to post the following messake on their website:

Quote:
IMPORTANT NOTE: TRACK 11 ON 'Essence' IS INTENTIONALLY BLANK!
You will notice the track list on the artwork of 'Essence' only goes up to number 10, with the occasional very-hard-to-read hints at the last track (12) called “Half Full Jam”.
The band intended this track to be a ‘hidden track’ on the album – but rather than leave 2 minutes of silence after “Happiness is the Road” and putting the music for “Hall Full Jam” on the same audio CD track, the band decided to re-create the same effect but with individual track markers. This method was specifically chosen to make the individual tracks easier to import into digital music libraries with programs such as iTunes or similar – allowing you to simply ‘skip’ or not import the silence that would have normally been part of the same audio track.
Again, this is not an error or a problem with the disc, just the band’s artistic choice to have a ‘hidden track’ and the particular way they decided to implement it.

Yes. I just clicked on my link to LoL and it's asking for a password.

I think this is probably a good thing overall.

There was a time when it was fun to try and be the first to spot that the Reaper update had been posted at http://www.reaper.fm/

Then people, including me, got wind of the Pre releases being posted at LoL.

I think it's good that a few should be selected to check out the pre releases. Personally I'm not worthy because I don't understand most of the updates anyway. At least not until about 6 months later. I'm a bit slow

Pete

Yeah, and you did write "wrote" when you should have wrote "write"

...Hey that's got quite a cool rhythm to it - now we need a rhyme

Hmmm...let's see...if it takes them that long, there must be something really special brewing in the Cockos basement.

Possible candidates include:

- Theming engine overhaul

This one as well.

It has been almost a week since the last pre release. I hope they didn't have to backtrack.

Is it just me, or have the feature requests increased a lot?
