Default iPhone, Pod, Pad, midi controller (NOT WIFI)

Anyone know of an app that will let me control reaper or midi commands in reaper though the cable instead of wifi?

its all very good when you are at home practicing but is a little bit pointless when you are gigging and theres no wifi signal.

I have a ipod 4G, and a macbook.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

AC-7 core mini works down the cable as well as wifi. The wifi that is required is only between the two devices, you don't need a hotspot for the web, just set up an ad hock wireless network between your computer and your iPhone.

Somewhere I read that this app only works wirelessly, however it works both for me. I went and bought a 3 m cable, now I don't have to put my bass down between every take! : )

EDIT: just found a post saying wired connection is only for ipad

thanks anyway....

Boatbassguy....

This is excellent news. thanks for your quick response.
Sorry to be a pain. but could you briefly explain how you set it up over "wired only"?

keep in mind i have an ipod with no 3g data or hotspot creation.

I have the ac7 control which i think is an older version but will get this "core mini" version if it does what you suggest.

also, can you assign different faders to various midi functions?
like via "midi learn" control a parameter on an effect etc? or is it only for track fader controls....

Hi Acousmatic,

I'm iPhone not iPad!

You're Mac so I don't know how much this is relevant...

In the process of trying to get the thing to work at all I happened to have my iPhone plugged into a USB port just to keep it powered up. Ac7 was open on the phone and before I'd got the wireless connection happening I just noticed that it was working! No additional setup required.

Hmmm.. standard iPhone cable, same set up proceedure as outlined on the Saitara site, I'm PC... the only other thing I can think of that may possibly be relevant is that when using iPhones as modems the connection is made somehow through iTunes. iTunes doesn't even need to be open, it just needs to be installed on your computer.

I would suggest getting AC7 core mini, trying the standard set up proceedure, if it doesn't work, install or update to the latest iTunes and open it in the background. If it still doesn't work I don't know but am happy to explore my setup more closely if needed.

I haven't tried assigning faders to alternative functions. All of the functions seem to work fine except the ones in the advanced tabs, of which very few work at all.

Good luck!

You can route all traffic through your USB cable. Look for usbmuxd etc.
