Have to stop and give some credit here. The look of the display is strongly influenced by Blankfiles' iLogic Free Theme (I really love the display screen on the transport in that theme). While I am at it, let me also add that I have a plethora of themes from the stash on the computer I use to make themes and scan them for visual ideas and code on a regular basis. How much influence any particular theme or themer has had (or will have) is hard to say, but thank you one and all for your continuing contributions to this community.

Reason: 'cause typing long-winded comments on a itty bitty phone screen is really hard to do(as is breaking up according to N Sedaka)

Update:
Wax on.
Wax off.
Not sure what I think about the button, but I am finished working on it for the night. May just go for a simple round button with a simple round light and forget about the arrow chasing its tail which requires a certain amount of pixel space to pull-off. I may make an undercarriage to house both the repeat button and tap button. Still have to figure out how to do the tap button.

Update:
Here is my initial attempt at an undercarriage bezel to house three buttons which will be left to right: [Global Automation] [Repeat] [BPM TAP]

Update:
I think I have settled on the design for the first of the three under-slung buttons. This is just a prototype button (no mouse-over and pressed versions) just to get the design of the button, spacing and bezel set. Now it is time to make the all the sets for the global automation and move on to repeat and tap.

Update:
Installing buttons. I have a slight problem, though. When I click on the Global Automation Button in the undercarriage it seems I activate the repeat function. I did not anticipate the trespassing issue (fist to forehead - duh). I could flip flop buttons and that would solve the issue as is would fence in the repeat zone. You learn something new everyday
Edit: I am thinking of removing the Global Automation from the cluster, moving repeat to the left, placing BPM tap far right and installing an 8-track tape deck in the center. Talk about nostalgic retro vibe!

How so? I never stray. Now wander about aimlessly, that's another matter.
Edit: When I made that mission statement I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Update:
Didn't get a whole lot done. I am adding space after transport button group before the display and will put round buttons for repeat and global automation. You can see the prototype for repeat in place -- color is not zeroed in yet, too bright. Trim button below is set for demolition (charges have been set and it will soon be gone) BPM tap will be a round button inset in lower bezel (like often seen on old clocks to adjust time/alarm) if I can make it work (I am still discovering what can and can't be done and what things that I have imagined that must be discarded). Well, off to bed. Tomorrow is another day.
Edit: Staring at the repeat button and I may add a round bezel to set it off which was often done with that style of button.

Update:
Back to working on RetroSonic. Abandoned the idea of buttons associated with Global Automation and Repeat since you can just click on the screen and I can't isolate input to the button (plus I was spending too much time on the buttons and they weren't looking the way I wanted them). Time to move on to something else.
Still need to make bezel to house selection information and it will probably remain under the transport buttons. The rate controls will be above the buttons. The transport section reminds me a little of the dashboard of a 1983 Mercury Cougar that my Dad used to own. Maybe I should install a steering wheel and cruise control.
I think I will change the automation icon to text color when in trim mode (it changes color based on mode). Blue does not look right for trim mode. Touch mode is amber and I think I will switch that to blue.
Colors for modes are:
Read - Green
Touch - Amber (will change to Blue or Cyan)
Write - Red
Latch - Orange
Bypass - Gray (open/outlined symbol)
Off - gray (86-86-86)
Preview - Teal/Cyan
I an open to suggestion for better/alternate color scheme
Master is still on my list to do.

Looks like your making some progress despite taking a break.

My suggestion for the colors would be to use the same or similar colors as the default.
It willl be less confusing if/when you or anyone using the theme needs to switch back an forth between themes.

Update:
The housing for the selection date just arrived from the fabrication shop and I installed it. It has a nice shiny copper bezel. Still deciding on what I think of it. I wanted to label the items (start, end, length), but there isn't sufficient room. I will meditate on this for the moment and move on to the master I think.
Edit: It did't take much meditation. I think repeating the look of the status display doesn't work. I think I need to go for more of the look of the odometer from a 1966 Mercury Comet (which just coincidentally was my very first car).

Update:
Almost done and ready to upload to the stash.
Added floating crystal fader above label on Bellaire Slim.
New background for Eldorado Series which rounds top and bottom corners on ends to better define groupings. Difference between Bellaire and El Dorado styles have become more distinct.
Working on master
Finished off transport. -wait... I still need to add the rate bar.
I am ready to be finished with this. I have ideas for a couple more themes:
Obsidian - a dark theme based on a SciFi take on a glass aircraft cockpit.
Hummingbird - a theme for small displays
This theme making is addictive.

Update:
Making the last adjustments before I post to the stash. Almost there!
-Finished master except for needing to nudge "Outputs" right to center in space. Added the Official RetroSonic Emblem.
-Made new crystal fader knob for Bellaire slim. I call it the Manta Ray.
-I have several different color options for the transport - any color you want as long as it is blue (actually there are two gray options). All choices have rate slider or no rate slider option
-Wrapping up the TCP.
Edit:
Here is a screen shot that shows one of the gray transport options (a chrome bumper look, 1953 Desoto I think) and the rate slider. The rate read out is between the Time and Status in the Display and is shaded a tasty mint green to stand out. I placed the rate slider over the transport controls because that is where it was located on several old reel to reel decks I saw images of from the 1960s is consistent with the vibe of the theme.
