Delete Item vs. Remove Item?
Does remove item actively destructively delete the item while deleting just removes from arrange view and keeps it in the media explorer somewhere?

What do you mean by removing and deleting? If you remove item from arrange view, it is gone, unless you undo. On the other hand, the file linked to the item is still there. Editing is non-destructive in Reaper.

There is a separate action when you right click on an item to remove an item.

Yes, but what about deleting? By default Delete shortcut is assigned to "Remove items/tracks/envelope points (depending on focus)" action. It does what I described in the previous message. Is it clear now?

Are you saying that they are identical?

They are ... and remember it removes the item from the project but does not delete the media file from your disk. That's why I personally prefer the term "remove" to "delete" - but that key on the keyboard only says "delete", there is no "remove" key. Hence, I think, the confusion.

With the delete key so I suppose they are just being removed from arrange view!

To delete from disk you'd use File -> Clean current project directory or do it manually from Finder/Explorer. Beware though if you have several projects in the same directory.
If you want to retain them while not in the arrange view I think you could use the project bay with the "retain" flag set.

There are also actions for that (SWS):
SWS/S&M: Delete active take and source file in selected items (no undo)
SWS/S&M: Delete active take and source file in selected items (prompt, no undo)
SWS/S&M: Delete selected items' takes and source files (no undo)
SWS/S&M: Delete selected items' takes and source files (prompt, no undo)

Are you saying me continuously not reading the thread properly is making me answer the wrong things.
I’ll find my way out. Thank you.

Yes, I'd certainly caution (especially newbs) against doing this. In case the main reason for this isn't self-evident to anybody, if you've accidentally (or, indeed intentionally) put more than one project in the same directory, then zappo!
